They don't have products for sale on their site? Funny, because there's actually a section on the front page that says "Products" and a Shopping Cart.

Atelier will be an interesting sound design tool, featuring modularity, polyadic modulation, a sample generator/player, and combi-delay filters.
According to the Superbooth presentation, the focus will be on multi-channel (multi-channel audio output). I wish them great success and look forward to testing it out.
peace and love for all.

According to Matthias, it is possible to run on an Intel Mac from 10 years ago, with the CPU limitations of course.

Wow, thanks Michael for your epic post at that link. It’s very informative and detailed. I recommend that people who are interested in this topic click the link and read your post.

I can’t remember ever hearing about the GRM Player. But with that added context, this new update makes more sense now. Also, thank you for helping to translate the information into English. I really appreciate that.

Their website can lean a bit on the academic side, and that could potentially make it unappealing for some individuals. They’re very serious about research into art and sound.

But some people just want to use their cool effects, and get on with making music. It’s all good... to each their own. After watching a few more videos, I’m even more excited to try out the release version. It looks like it’s right up my alley. :tu:

You keep strawmanning the discussion by trying to make it about this development project. My original comment was about the GRM site and landing page as it exists today, not the work in progress or a buried link that isn't easily found in the jumbled mess of a website.

Also, the page you linked also has no information about the work in progress, so yet another GRM website fail. And if this is where I'm supposed to find information, then at a minimum we have a failed SEO implementation as well.

I think I've made my point here.

The mentioning of SYTER triggers memories…

Post

Just had an email with an update, they are building a new website.

https://info.ina.fr/grm-tools-atelier?_hsmi=372630382

Unfortunately in the email they say "We are happy to announce that the final pricing for Atelier has been confirmed: 249€ (with taxes; depending on your country).
Students and teachers will benefit from a 35% discount; there will also be a limited-time 20% off on launch."

No mention of any upgrade or loyalty discount for current GRM customers.

From their mail:
All users of GRM Tools 3 will benefit from a discount of 30% on Atelier upon release, so there is no reason not to become one today!

Post

Question is, if these discounts add up or are kind of max.

30% off upgrade (sadly for Mac only tho they are maintaining the older plugins)

Hi there, Matthias Puech here, lead dev of Atelier, and dude in the video. Wrote that newsletter too :ud:

Somehow missed this discussion! Thanks all for your enthusiasm! Just wanted to clarify a few points.

GRM is a small team inside a public institution (INA); indeed founded by Pierre Schaeffer in 1958. Our activity is keeping the heritage and encouraging emerging forms of experimental music (concerts, residencies, publications), and the R&D effort of inventing tools for musicians, which I lead. GRM Tools, our suite of plugins, has been around since the 90s.

Atelier, which we previewed at Superbooth, is a completely new product. It bears a common philosophy with, and is inspired by GRM Tools 3, but is a full reinvention, with new ideas and workflows, and completely new algorithms. I started from scratch: Atelier bears no single line of code with GRM Tools 3.

Yep, our current GRM Tools 3 website is not great . We're developing a new one right now, that will be much clearer and user-friendly. It will sell Atelier as well as GRM Tools 3. Expect it on launch in September.

Atelier will be 249€ with (French) taxes. There will be 20% off at launch, 35% permanent for education, and 30% off for previous GRM Tools 3 customers (not cumulative, take the max that applies to you). All Atelier purchases will come with 3 activations. At launch we'll support macOS but a Windows port is on the way and should be available Q1 2026.

I'm around; don't hesitate to ask me anything, I'll do my best!
