Omnisphere: will there be another?

I know their dev cycle is long, but it seems like it's been a very long time. Do you expect another version?

....what new function could be applied in a new omnisphere?

Definitely to give us the full sampler capabilietes with key and velocity groups. Multibandsplitting of Fx would be nice and of course a modern modulation system with drag&drop and full visual representation.dune_rave wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 6:32 am ....what new function could be applied in a new omnisphere?

Layer and section specific randomization with smart control under the hood to exclude certain parameters from being altered would be a game changer. Instant variation with consistency, would massively accelerate sound design and easily replace entire plugin chains.
And the ability to create custom controls to build your own interface and expansions, like what they did with their Sonic Extensions.

Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-User multi-samples (Rob Papen Blue and Ana 2 did it, Spectrasonics should be able to!), including sfz
-User custom controls like Trilian and Sonic extensions (how long have people been asking for that?)
MPE compatibility (didn't a rep say they were working on that years ago?)
-User loaded wavetables or even editing?
-Analog models filters (more than just the super quiet impOscar filter)
-Make the first seven lfo's polyphonic, not just the eighth one.
-iOS version
So yeah lots they could improve!

IMO Omni 2 is a mature and excellent product. I hope all their resources are going into the Stylus RMX replacement which is now officially a legacy product.

It’s in need of a few things. Split modes are reasonably basic - I’d love an ability to split by mod wheel, velocity, keyboard range all at once for example - workstation style. I like the Nord’s high and low note priority if we’re wishing. (In fact, while we are here guys, can there be a nice organ expansion, effectively going toe-to-toe with the Nord Stage for those of us with Keyscape?) Talking of expansions, the whole sonic Extensions thing has gone quiet with maybe a little too long between releases.
The Orb is a layer FX preset and could be so much more and I’d appreciate some constant macros given the sheer sonic range of it.
However, it runs on a CPU shoestring, loads near instantly these days in my M3 Mac, and soundwise knocks it out of the park every time. Back in ??2002ish I decided hard between an A-Station or the new Atmosphere, and it’s been a constant in my studio ever since.

We’re at the 10 year mark since Omnisphere 2s release. It’d be great to see a 10th year anniversary with a V3. As mentioned above, there’s still so much Eric and Spectrasonics can do. The fact he’s still updating it makes it seem like they will eventually release a newer even more powerful version.
The UI could use some new tweaks to modernize it. Overall I’d like them to add the ability to add user Multi samples & new content.
A new electric guitar Sonic Extensions would be incredible as well.

Won't happen IMO.
Given the huge library of presets and samples it makes more sense to add new features and improved DSP code to the current product. And that's exactly what they did with the Sonic Extensions a couple of years ago. Whether it was a good idea to gatekeep those new features with paid plugins is up for debate.
From a product perspective it'd make more sense if they released a completely new synth/rompler to pave the road for the next 20 years. I don't know if it'd make financial sense or if Spectrasonics is capable of offering something interesting in the synth space anymore (unlike U-He, Bitwig, Ableton, etc).

Yes we will see Omnisphere III. It won't be radically different but will be MIDI 2.0 compatible with the full MIDI 2.0 spec and will ship with thousands if possible parameters premapped to CCs since MIDI 2.0 can support over 16,000 of them. Eric has always wanted to push the envelope with technology
The big thing Spectrasonics has with Omnisphere is the incredibly diverse sample library so Omnisphere 3 would need to leverage that
One of biggest ways would be to have a resynthesis engine that leverages the sample library and of course new Samples
I currently sample things out of that library and then import into the the resynthesis engines of Dawesome Myth and HALion7. Being able to do something similar inside of Omnisphere itself would be amazing

I have wondered if they've been investing all this time in a vastly updated sample source library.
Other than that, I'd love to see an overhaul of the UI, and I've always found it (subjectively) horrendous and awkward to navigate. They really could take a leaf out of Pigments book.

Sonic Extensions launched in 2021. Since then, I believe only 1 new one 2 years ago. They made a big deal of it at the time, but it seems to have fallen flat with no news and no new releases.
