I personally don't care about internal sequencers, as I'm happy to use my DAW, but my hope would be an over-all polish pass. New actually analog modeled filters, better quality FM, oversampled distortion, etc. Rise the quality level to match the increase in computing power.dune_rave wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 6:32 am ....what new function could be applied in a new omnisphere?

I'm in the camp of people who really love the UI/UX. Maybe it looks a bit "dated," but I don't mind that 90s/00s sci-fi vibe. As for the UX aspect of it, I don't see why anyone would mind the right-click-assign-adjust method of modulation assignment.tehlord wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 6:49 pm I have wondered if they've been investing all this time in a vastly updated sample source library.
Other than that, I'd love to see an overhaul of the UI, and I've always found it (subjectively) horrendous and awkward to navigate. They really could take a leaf out of Pigments book.

I have been using the 'expose parameters for host automation' forever, but a few choice macros with constant CC control would certainly modernise the synth. The Orb is something of a disappointing add-on for something so fundamentally powerful. For me, more and more I'm using it standalone since that functionality became available - and more than ever it's the nearest I have to the Nord Stage. As a longtime Keyscape/Trilian/VIP owner I dream of a nice Spectra-style B3 extension with some proper layer functions, so that I can use it as keys-organ-synth with splits and layers. I'd like a DADSR envelope for the presets too, so I could bring in a sound later than the keypress without workarounds. Nothing else on the market would be such a compelling alternative to the Nord.

long time owner user. have Omnisphere, keyscape, trillian, stylus rmx. even bought a t-shirt LOL
I haven't bought the Omnisphere sonic extensions, I bought Keyscape instead. I just couldn't at the time justify the price of the Sonic extensions for the effects and patch libraries. it didn't make sense when there are so many effects plugins . eventually I'll buy 'um I want to support Spectrasonics, love there stuff.
adding midi 2.0, MPE etc seems like a no brainer, even more hardware integration, seems they kinda slacked that off. Never included Montage, Fantom, Kronos which would have been nice even if limiting. hardware seems to only be expensive exclusives that I never cared about anyway.
Omnisphere is still my go to synth. all the other products from spectrasonic when I got them I loved them, but all seem a bit long in the tooth now and no my go to any longer. still gems in all the products, still enjoy and find new sonic things but Onisphere just works and I get lost in it for hours, none of my other synths do that for me. just a fanboi I guess.

I think I'm just about to take advantage of a July 4 sale to buy Omnisphere 2, so all this talk about 3.0 makes me a bit nervous re an upgrade price soon after investing in 2.8. Oh well. I just know I really like the sounds I've heard from it on YouTube, and that's enough for me. And as I rummage through the guidebook, it looks pretty straightforward in its gui design. I wish its sequencer was polyphonic (sounds like it just does chords and monophonic arpeggios) and that it had a wavetable editor like Halion plus a more developed sampler. Maybe these would be worth paying extra for.

Same here, I've never used internal sequencers in softsynths (other than a few times in virual modulars). I would like to see the ability to load user or third-party wavetables into the 'synth' oscillator; there are a lot of factory wavetables available, but it would be nice to add your own.zerocrossing wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 7:43 pmI personally don't care about internal sequencers, as I'm happy to use my DAW, but my hope would be an over-all polish pass. I have all of Spectrasonics products as well as all the libraries and extensions for Omnisphere. I don't want a radical overhaul of the interface as I find it works really well for me after 17 years of use. The sonic extensions have their own interfaces which you can override and just use the regular Omnisphere interface if you want. For me, the things I would like most are:
Multicore CPU support. Right now you cannot really run complex multis in a single Omnisphere instance which is really a shame since that interface is really good. Every other feature is a distant second to this one thing that should have been done years ago.
Stylus RMX support inside of Omnisphere as a drum sequencer with enhancements. I love Stylus RMX still and don't want support to just disappear. I also want it integrated with the STEAM engine.
Complex LFO support and at least two more per voice LFO's beyond LFO 8. This would make the Orb kind of unnecessary and I agree with a previous post that said while it is powerful it is a bit disappointing.
Better sample engine support and yes that means multi-samples at the very least as well as better modulation of sample parameters.
Additive synthesis would be nice to have. The Harmonia oscillators are cool but that is not additive synthesis.
I think Eric and friends are going to come out with a version 3 at some point for sure. Not sure when unfortunately. For anyone worried about paying for an upgrade be aware that you never pay for any upgrades for software once you have purchased it. It is expensive up front but over a lot of use it is absolutely worth it.

I don't mind the aesthetic of the UI at all, it's more the window within a window within a page that I find clunky. Compared with something like Pigments or even good old Alchemy I just found it a bit obtrusive, but that's why I described my annoyance as subjective. I think UI design has come a long way since then in terms of useability.zerocrossing wrote: Fri Jun 27, 2025 7:51 pmI'm in the camp of people who really love the UI/UX. Are you sure about that? I seem to remember paying to go from 1 to 2, as well as paying to move to Omnisphere from Atmosphere, when they deprecated it.inaheartbeat wrote: Sat Jun 28, 2025 5:00 am I have all of Spectrasonics products as well as all the libraries and extensions for Omnisphere. This is what I too would want from an omnisphere 3

Naturally, the upgrades came at a cost. But updates within the same version number are free.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Jun 28, 2025 1:53 pmAre you sure about that? I am totally sure of this and I have records of my payments. I never migrated from Atmosphere. The upgrades even from 1.x to 2 were no charge.zerocrossing wrote: Sat Jun 28, 2025 1:53 pmAre you sure about that? I paid $199 for O1->O2 - IIRC there was a discount for having more than Omnisphere (or it just might have been cheaper then).
Updates within a major version have always been free though – and there's been 10 years of incremental improvements in O2.
