I don't have any experience with TDM, but I believe the cost of upgrading is in the thousands of dollars. The LE systems are considered entry level, while HD and TDM are Pro systems. Somebody pls correct me if I'm wrong. :)

What the heck? I know of a feature that far more advanced users don't???

Click on the volume control in the master area (bottom right) and in the dialog window you'll see a button "find normalized level" which will give you several options. Now, if you want to do it for only one clip or one track, you need to use a bit of a workaround:

Simply select the region you want to know about (if it's a clip, set markers snapped to the beginning and end and then solo the track) and select the appropriate option from the menu.

Now, remember that it WILL automatically adjust your master volume, so make sure you've written it down somewhere so that you can manually reset it. Write down the number it gives you, then go back to your clip, add a volume filter (or use it on the whole track.. whatever!) and adjust to the number you had written down.

Yeah, it's a bit "manual", but I mean... it's still only a few seconds of work if it's functionality that you use and miss.

Sure, the TDM plugz are nice for the most part, BUT... you need the process cards to run them which list for $5,000 each (street price is less). Each process card can only handle so much processing which means a limit on how many plug-ins per card. Also, each TDM plug costs substantially more than it's native-run counterpart. For example, Musicians Friend sells the Waves Platinum bundle native version for $1,575, but the TDM goes for $3,149. You're looking at around $8,000 for some Waves plugz that you can only run limited instances of because of your farm card's limits. You want more instances? Pay for another $5,000 Accel card. You're at $13,000, give or take.

I think if you're a songwriter recording in your spare room or basement, it makes more sense to buy one of the UAD-1 or Powercore cards for around $400. You get the on-card processing AND a bunch of plugz. If you want to run host-based plugz, you've got track freeze in Tracktion which seems to make it not so much an issue to run out of processing power. You just freeze whatever tracks are slowing you down and start over.

I am learning that there are some very good sounding plugz that compete with the stuff us ex-Pro Tools users are used to, like the L2 or the 1176. (I'm still looking for that Pultec sound in a free VST though - any suggestions?) So my point is that the law of diminishing returns kicked in about 20 miles ago when you pay $20,000 for 3 DSP cards and a Waves plug-in suite, or $200 for some different great plugz and download a hundred others for free.

Okay I'm done.
