Can you highlight a time range in an automation lane and duplicate or copy/paste it or delete the contained points? Pretty sure the last time I tried all you could do was select individual points which was super awkward.

You can select multiple points by clicking on one and then Ctrl+clicking on others. From there you can delete all the selected points at once. I'm not sure about duplicate or copy/paste. But if you switch to automation clips (which for now is just automation added to other types of clips) you can easily duplicate and copy/paste those clips.Greenstorm33 wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 9:46 pm Can you highlight a time range in an automation lane and duplicate or copy/paste it or delete the contained points? Surely there must be consensus by now...

Yeah, that is the behavior that was driving me up a wall. Too bad they didn't improve it with the automation overhaul.pough wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:32 pmYou can select multiple points by clicking on one and then Ctrl+clicking on others. is there some explanation somewhere of how to use the new automation features? i've been using Tracktion/waveform for decades and can usually figure this stuff out, lol, but i've just spent 30 minutes with 13.5.6 and still have no idea how clip automation is supposed to work.

The most up to date manual is on GitHub. There is a section on automation clipsDaniel78 wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 4:15 pm is there some explanation somewhere of how to use the new automation features? i've been using Tracktion/waveform for decades and can usually figure this stuff out, lol, but i've just spent 30 minutes with 13.5.6 and still have no idea how clip automation is supposed to work.

Seems like in version 13.5.6 you can at least select a range and delete the points. Selecting with your mouse over the automation lane results in a special selection area. That might not be new, maybe I'd just never tried it before. Anyways, delete works to delete all the points in the selection area. I couldn't find a way to copy/paste but duplicating automation events will work with the clips anyways.Greenstorm33 wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:40 pm Yeah, that is the behavior that was driving me up a wall. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks - this was exactly what i needed. I had no idea this help document existed!pough wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 6:37 pmhttps://github.com/Tracktion/waveform_m ... automationDaniel78 wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 4:15 pm is there some explanation somewhere of how to use the new automation features? i've been using Tracktion/waveform for decades and can usually figure this stuff out, lol, but i've just spent 30 minutes with 13.5.6 and still have no idea how clip automation is supposed to work.
Ok, so i can create and modify automation for a clip now. I can obviously see it in the editor panel, but is it expected to be able to see that automation in the main track view? (eg. overlaid onto my clip, and/or visually modifying the main automation for that parameter on the track). Right now its not obvious i have automation on the clip at all, unless i bring up the audio/midi editor, and know in advance which parameters were automated.

Thanks, I may have to try it again. I’m a little fuzzy on the details but I was definitely finding myself frequently clicking an individual dot and then shift clicking another dot to get something resembling a range selection.pough wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 10:57 pmSeems like in version 13.5.6 you can at least select a range and delete the points. Not sure if this new video from Tracktion on their YouTube channel helps. Well, couldn't harm to have a look at it.

No easy way to create clip automation, and then when you finally do, it can't be used for automation clips, so near, so far (considering track automation can pass through to other plugins/tracks, why not with clip automation, so it can be used as automation clips) I will try again in another year, good luck.
Duh
