I downloaded FinalMix last night, had no problems in unzipping and installing, presets work and preset names are shown on the GUI... . A bit of a cpu hog, but in exchange the sound quality seems to be very good. So, everything's working fine so far

a .sit file would be more standard if you want to support 10.2 users. a .dmg would be even more mac like. glad i could be of help.

one little oddity i found so far: the User Presets will mirror the Factory Presets until you select Use Default Folder from the Presets popup menu. submitted it to the mackie form...

Hmmm... I tried Tracktion for the first time in a long while, just to use the final mix beta, and it seemed to me to be using way less cpu on my Mac...(than before) 2gig G5 with 2.5 gigs of ram. I'm going to have to test this more, but very interesting...

Mmmm...I posted the problem I was having earlier (can't find it now), and the response I got was that it was a known bug. :?

I guess its system specific. I have all the presets in the list and the user presets. Its something like 50 or 60 presets and I have about 10 extra user presets. Well maybe they'll fix it now that the Mac version is out.

Ditto. When people first started complaining about the preset thing, I thought they were bananas. Then the next time I re-installed my system, I was having the problems that people reported. No pattern apparent, but I hope it's fixed for T2. Doesn't look like it, though, if the Mac beta has the same issue.

Well, I take small and petty comfort in the fact that we're all sharing the same issue, though. :D

Hey Scared,
A work around is for you to lock all the presets. Go into finder, navigate to the location of your Final Mix Plug and then the Factory Presets folder. Select all the individual factory presets and get info (cmd+I). Click the locked button. Now relaunch tracktion and things should fine. This won't be a problem with the final release for most users as Tracktion will lock these during the instalation process.

-I open an instance of finalmix and select the preset using the arrows to the left of the preset name.
-I then press-hold the preset name to select another preset using the drop down menu
-Now, if I try to use the arrows again to browse presets, they don't respond. I have to delete the instance and start a new one.

A small bug, but a bug nonetheless, unless I've overlooked something.

Anyone else?

(Sounds great BTW)
