Hey everyone,

a second Uhbik 2.0 public beta is now available.

Image

You can find more general information about the beta in the Uhbik 2.0 Revision 18148 thread.

Most noteworthy changes:

Old Delay presets had been too quiet, as we had adjusted the default input and output gain settings. Those presets now load with the correct settings in old projects.

The Compressor's range parameter scaling has been improved to give you more control over the range between 1:1 and 2:1.

The mod matrix is now dynamically loading mod slots as needed, up to eight in total.
There are some issues when using the undo/redo feature in connection with the mod matrix. Those will be ironed out for the final release.

For users who are dependent on the old VST2 version, because their hosts do not support VST3 migration yet, we added the old version 1.3.1 skin back to the installer. If the old VST2 is still installed, it will load with the old GUI, while all other plugin formats will load the new GUI.

Important: The VST2 version itself is not included in the installer. So if you need to continue using it, do not delete the VST2 from your system.

On Windows, it's also possible that the old VST3 will still exist in parallel to the new one after installing the update. In this case, please delete the old Uhbik(x64).vst3 manually to avoid issues like weird GUI glitches if the host decides to load the old VST3.

We are in the process of improving mouse drag and scroll wheel behaviour on all platforms. This is work in progress, but it's in a usable state on Mac and Windows. The Linux version still needs a lot of work, some things won't work there yet. Let us know if anything feels odd or outright wrong when adjusting parameters or using the scroll bars.

And there's a new preference, "Hide Mouse On Drag". This prevents the mouse from getting stuck at the edges of your screen when adjusting parameters. Let us know how it feels on Mac and Windows. It's not working on Linux yet, sorry.

awesome. Great work on the compressor (ratio) and the dynamic mod slots (much needed ;) )

Known Issues:

* Text in the main data display can get clipped depending on GUI size

Confirmed. Issue still presents in Win 11 - OS scaling 250%, Plugin internal scaling 100% (Default).

Rock solid bang for the bucks.
Also, legibility of the new large knobs is next level. It's the little details!

Activate key control (the KEYC button left of the main data display), select the parameter, enter a numerical value and hit Enter.

Can this be done with other u-he plug-ins? Or is it an exclusive Uhbik feature?

Most of our plug-ins support this. If you look at the announcement threads in our forum (below this one), Key Control is mentioned for Repro, Zebra 2, ACE, Diva, Bazille, Hive, Colour Copy, MFM2, Twangström.

Dear Urs, I understand the following might be a lot of work. But I'd like to share my thoughts with you.

At the moment, when you're changing a knob's value and the cursor hits the screen borders, you can't change the knob's value any further.

I think Kilohearts cracked the code when it comes to knob behavior. This is how Kilohearts behave:

When you click on a knob to change its value, the cursor disappears, and you can change the knob's value in any direction as much as you want without hitting any wall or anything like that. And as soon as you release the mouse button, the cursor reappears EXACTLY where it was before.

It would be amazing if u-he could adopt this behavior.

But again I understand it might not be what YOU like, or even if you did, it might be a lot of work. So all I can say is, thank you either way.

Yeah, you know, we got that, too. From the original post at the top of this page:

Oh wow, thank you Urs, I didn't know that. I installed the new release and have one comment:

At the moment, when you're adjusting a knob by dragging, you can't press SHIFT for finer adjustments. You have to STOP dragging first, then press SHIFT, then continue dragging again.

With the plug-ins of the company I mentioned above, you can press SHIFT while you're already dragging. You can also let go of the SHIFT key, while still dragging. Meaning you can switch between COARSE and FINE adjustments without having to first stop dragging.

Thank you.

One last comment, when the mouse cursor is hovering on a knob, the value is only shown for around 2 seconds. I wish the value could be shown for as long as the mouse cursor is hovering on a knob/button/... .
