Totally usable with a sexy UI, but IMO it visually looks much better than it is. Many people claim that it's sterile, and I can understand that sentiment.

Current is great, but the granular section isn't much to write home about IMO. Not much better or worse than Phaseplant, just a little different.

If your interest is specifically about the granular aspect, I'd just go get a dedicated granular synth or something bespoke like Dawesome Novum.
Yeah, good points. I find generally that I prefer dedicated things for special stuff.
I use Synthmaster 3 as my main "Synth" synth that can do pretty much everything, then Plasmonic for general physical modelling, Respiro for wind instruments, VCV for modular and Battalion for drum/percussion.
Granular I mostly use as an effect with Silo, but SM3 has my needs covered as well.

All my other synth plugins I use very rarely...

Is it me or plugins prices ( across ALL manufacturers ) seem to have hiked all of a sudden by 20-30 % ?

You will be happy at first buying pigments and it will be because of dopamine that you get when buying things. That feeling will pass, you will chase for another sale to get that dopamine rush and Pigments will be collecting digital dust.
Actually I try to use each synths in the technology / audio engine it is supposed to be good at, but some synths like Phase Plant or Icarus ( and maybe Pigment ), they wrap up so many audio engines that you need a solid understanding of sound design to really use it.

That's what I like : lose myself in button fiddling :ud:

Depends what kind of music you try to make.
EDM? Then Avenger would be a better choice. On the other hand if you are afraid from the recurring 90 days authorization then maybe Avenger is not your thing...

I have bought it and got a refund of Avenger 3 days after : it's not a real synth, it's mainly a rompler ... and with the coming of AI analysis algorithms, I want to go away from using samples and focus on synthesis.

Worse than that, it's stagflation.

I don't know what it is about Pigments. It has a nice clean functional UI. It's versatile and sounds great. And yet I hardly ever feel like using it.

I don’t use (program sounds on) Pigments. I’ve found that I can’t rely on « key parameters » when trying to design a sound, there aren’t any sweet spots, you have to consider a lot of parameters to reach a point when with other synthesizers, one or 2 parameters are sufficient. Minifreak’s oscillators are an example of a well thought set of parameters : with 3 or 4 you can achieve great sounds when with Pigments you have 20 parameters to set.

I didn't really like it and have passed on it during every sale...

You should have explored Avenger more because definitely a synthesizer with many different types of synthesis. It’s cool if you don’t like it but it’s not a ROMpler
