seafire wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 6:45 pm Thanks for the input. I'm really just after a basic input, no frills.

Wonder if I could put the guitar into my audio interface ( Behringer UMC204HD) then out into the modular? Guess the volume would drop again on output from interface.
It depends. Line level is not hot enough to drive the input of a filter hard but it may be enough to get the result you want. Noise level is pretty high in eurorack, so signal levels are super hot to overcome noise floor, so with a line level signal, the output may be more noisy than the input.
yes, i meant using the pedal, before a dedicated input (or as i use the 138) not straight from pedal to filter.
sorry if this wasnt clear. 8)

Man, DPO is such a great oscillator. I told myself I'd wait until I build a 259 for my Buchla system before I think about getting another DPO but I've felt the pull recently. It was my favorite oscillator when I had it.
I could move the Harvestman oscs in my main system and put the DPO in their place. I've been planning a 90% Harvestman/IME system, anyway.

never took much notice of it before, not sure why? but todays make noise video was tony going over the history, and a lot of the sounds really grabbed me, plus tony was going over different things about it, and it sounds quite interesting, i thought xpo was a kind of dpo2 so thats probably why its not been on my radar. but they are as you know im sure, two very different things

the ferrous, im looking forward to outdorr 12 string drones, for my arsehole neighbours  f**k off you knobs, its acoustic, i can go till 11!!! :hihi:

Nice!

I still really want the DPO too. It’ll happen soon enough.

I’m still curious to see what they’re releasing. Perfect Circuit joined the chat, so I assume that means product announcement incoming.

I had a DPO for a while, and found that while I really like a lot of what other people have done with it, it wasn't for me. I'm not in love with Make Noise's wavefolders (either on the DPO or 0-Coast), and I was too big a fan of TZFM or PM for its "regular" linear FM to work for me.

In my heart I think my favorite complex oscillator was the Hertz Donut mk2. I tried the mk3 and it didn't quite have the charm; it was more fiddly, and aside from a couple of particular patches I just preferred the mk2 sound. I had an ER-301 Sound Computer which could make the sounds, but was more fiddly to work with (weird compromise between Eurorack and DAW IMHO). Pittsburgh Double Helix was unique, quirky, not well behaved and had some limits, but it could definitely sound beautiful. Shapeshifter was super powerful but I mostly found myself using it in limited ways, which the RYK Algo does better. But now that I have the Algo, I find myself using it differently yet again. I almost have the temptation to go back to the HD mk2... but if I did that I'd probably want the Algo back! So I'm resisting any temptation to change things yet again. :)

polyprismaticooscillator :hihi:
i tried decoding the bits in the video walker mentioned, one was obviously polymaths, im pretty sure the others where poly- too. i then started trying to think what else worked with poly and got polyphon, a polyphonic echophon, with polyphonic pitch shifting, but im probably wrong

The MN wave folder definitely has a much sharper/high-frequency focused sound than other folders. That sound works really well with filters, IMO. DPO is such a playable oscillator. I loved setting up a simple sequence on Rene, patching PressurePoints channels to some of the CV inputs and playing the touch plates, using pressure for FM index or fold amount. The modulation routing was so easy to dial in.

I hear you about TZFM and PM though. It's hard to go back to regular old linear FM... but then I listen to my 258 clone and it's not so hard.

Yeah. I guess I should have said the DPO was my favorite ANALOG oscillator, at the time. :hihi:
The Hertz Donuts are so freaking nice. If I sold everything else, I'd keep a Hertz Donut mk1, Maths, Woggle Bug and QMMG.

Don't suppose I can interest the two of you in engaging in a new thread on this subject? I'm not complaining, I just don't want to clog up this thread.

Just ordered the 121 dual filter and 1003 dual env, both behringer.

Ferrous on the way (finally) too. It’s coming from Queens (30 minutes away) so I’m hopeful it’ll arrive tomorrow. Maybe?

No immediate need, but I just want to try it out already, and obviously have been spoiled by other faster deliveries.

I’m hoping Spotykach arrives sometime next week too. Getting closer.

that spotylach does look fun, but i held off for now, gotta see what comes after polymaths and as you say, already a bit spoiled with recent purhases :hihi:

must sort out some sounds for the 12 string drone iterative piece! :o
