Indeed I was thinking that too. It's summer, we need a quick release. Because everyone is having a sale now.jamcat wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 8:08 pmI went back and looked at all of the ones I own. Yes, PhaseMistress and Little Plate look OK. They're still a little blurry at 200%, but they look fine at a more reasonable size.dermage wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 7:29 pmLittle Radiator indeed looks a bit blurry here too, but this seems like a bug/oversight.jamcat wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 5:48 pmI already commented on that with images a couple pages back.escalona wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 5:47 pm Can anybody comment on whether the resizable gui graphics are worth looking into this minimal upgrade? Is it a high definition gui or is it just bigger pixels and blurry?
Some other plugins I checked looked quite good even at 200% scaling (eg. Filterfreak, Echoboy, Little Alterboy, Little Plate)
But Little Microshift and Little Primaltap look more blurry too.
I guess they will follow, but my main hopes were for Echoboy, Filtefreak.
On the big PrimalTap It looks a bit like they used some kind of AI upscaling on the old plugin.
Still better than before, but they need to work a bit on this.
Little Radiator and PrimalTap are both atrocious though, and unfortunately PrimalTap is the one I paid for and really the only one I use. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense why some would get updated hi-res graphics and some would not. Did they jump the gun on releasing 5.5?
Maybe they have another upcoming release, but that's unlikely since the, I max released once a year in recent years at least.

So would you call that atrocious in your terms?

I was excited about this update until I tried them... The graphics are atrocious and somehow look worse to me than they did before the update. When the plugins are resized, the backgrounds just stretch and look awful. Sie-Q is especially egregious. Most of the fonts look terrible. Same weird choices (copperplate gothic?) as before, but now in some areas the updated fonts are rendered at a higher res than everything else and just look strange laid on top.
Soundtoys have always been known for high quality stuff, but this UI work is terrible. And since they're charging for the update I'd expect more from it (oversamping?) too. Bummer.

"Razor sharp"... are you blind lol? Blurry AF background, weird mix of high res and low res fonts, and all kinds of careless mistakes. Characters are being clipped (see bottom of BEATS, and the left size of DEPTH), the tops of the sliders are clipped (see top of output sliders). LED fonts are low-res but some others are rendered in high-res. The knobs look horrendous... This is incredibly shoddy work.

I was one of the beta testers.
I only tested it on mac as I was traveling.
With a few exceptions (like the decapitator meter and a few others which I can't remember now) they were very sharp at the 150% I use them at on both my retina macbook pro 16 inch screen and the large samsung monitor attached to them.
Are people on mac having issues or is on pc?

I own PhaseMistress, Decapitator & Crystallizer and they are all razor sharp on Mac here (AU Format) + all free to update. Can't ask more! Love the update.

I'm on Mac. It seems like only certain plugins are pixelated. I can attest to Radiator and PrimalTap suffering from this. I'm only using the VST3 plugins. Could it be that they just forgot to update the graphics on VST3?zvenx wrote: Wed Jul 23, 2025 1:49 am I was one of the beta testers.

I'm on a PC and they look fine. In some cases a little soft but nothing I'd describe as atrocious. For ME... the upscaling of older Waves plugins is an atrocious pixelated mess. Sure there are some sharper fonts than other in place, and some images are softer than others but it's fine. Whatever. Everything that needs to be legible is. Is it perfect? Nah. Does it rep the brand great? Probably not entirely. It's 100% bare minimum. Reminds me of when McDSP updated everything BUT their delay. It's a little weak-sauce but it's serviceable. I think my update was 19 bucks. That's fine for me. I wouldnt have done 50.

Oh that.. thanks for pointing that out. Indeed. It was a quick play around in the 5min I had available. Hadn't even noticed the altering of the shadow on those rotary knobs yetenCiphered wrote: Tue Jul 22, 2025 8:05 pmSexy?! What’s with that ugly greyish shadow under every button? Looks really awkward.
After a closer look, that shadow looks like a Photoshop layer effect with the wrong blending mode, possibly something like "Multiply" or even "Normal" with low opacity, instead of a more subtle approach like "Overlay" or custom ambient shading.
It doesn’t interact naturally with the background. No diffusion, no gradient falloff, just a harsh blob. Doesn’t look intentional, more like a rushed export.
The main Idea was to make Soundtiys plugins more 'fun' too look at (hey, they call em Toys after all) and to work with for me personally.. personal taste.. versus that deep dark all black stuff they have us look at. Echoboy Junior is one of the few that has some nice easy on the eyes stuff. So that was mostly what I was thinking of.
