Possible scam buyer! Using PayPal Friends & Family = NO PROTECTION if you get scammed

Disclosing information about private transactions without my consent is a direct violation of confidentiality principles. Because of this, I am compelled to question your professional ethics and integrity.

Any public statements you make about our business relationship will be considered inaccurate and false.

You made several purchases from me in 2024–2025 without any issues and even expressed your appreciation for the successful deals.

Since there were no complaints from your side after your last purchase — Serum 1 + Gift (a free upgrade to Serum 2) — I consider all contractual obligations fully fulfilled.

Serum licenses are officially non-transferable. You acquired Serum under a “Gift = Account takeover” arrangement based on mutual trust. And since you contacted Xfer Records support despite knowing that license transfers are prohibited, your license will most likely be revoked.

Due to the breach of good faith and mutual trust, the disclosure of personal information, false statements, and defamation, and also spams kvr users — I reserve the right to reconsider the license agreement and refund policy regarding the Serum 1 + Gift (free upgrade to Serum 2) product.

Me too, but it's an online forum, where rhetoric and appeal to emotion is stronger than any sort of reasoning and evidence. You see the very same problems in politics.

My guess is, an alleged fraudulent seller has likely sold multiple fraudulent licenses to a bunch of people who find it a good idea to evaluate the legitimacy of a transaction solely on the price. This seller's customers are in fear of losing the license, but don't dare to contact the plugin devs because the license may get revoked.

Out of fear, they immediately jump to support the seller, even if the seller isn't honest about their sales.

Since Xfer Records doesn't allow account transfers (the gifting option is only for newly purchased licenses intended for someone you know), this license is essentially already invalid. Sorry to say.

I'm not too bummed, just wanted to raise the flag to not let anyone else fall into this one.

Still, I feel for you. I was too scammed once here, bought a plugin that the seller sold twice. In that case the developer was kind enough to give me an NFR license of that specific plugin though.

You were absolutely right, Xfer revoked access to the account - well, lesson learned.

Xfer revoked mine too. I didn't quite get from my conversation with them if it was because any outside sale of their plugins is illegal or they investigated history of account and found it is indeed stolen (which I asked for).

Hi guys.

Just wanted to share with you a strange situation.

I sold a plugin to someone. This was a UVI plugin so it is an iLok transfer.
The payment was done through Paypal G&S.
I payed iLok fee and made the transfer request.
Now the buyer is aking me to cancel the transfer and send him a refund because he is having family issues. He is going to refuse the transfer on his side.

This is strange. It all happened in one day.

What do you guys think?

Update: so apparently it was an attempted scam. It is not possible to refuse an iLok transfer as the license is transferred automatically to the buyer's account. Once I received the confirmation email from iLok that the transfer was completed I never heard from the buyer again.

It would make sense if I was 100% sure that it was a scam.
Now that I think of it maybe it was a scam attempt or a buyer's remorse or maybe he found a better deal somewhere else.

I don't think it was a buyers remorse if the buyer stopped contacting you.
If the Buyer was honest he or she would contact you and explain the situation or atleast keep the dialog open.
