First off, MTrackAlign is excellent. I hope you all at Melda keep experimenting with ARA. Regardless, I'm excited to see what you come up with next!

Here's a feature request to allow users to exclude sections from alignment. I'm attempting to align 2 DI guitar tracks, with a lot of success (especially when increasing grain size). BUT whenever there are distinct rhythms, the track that is getting aligned gets absolutely destroyed. I would like to inform MTrackAlign to ignore that section, and any other sections that will be impossible to align due to intentional differences. Please include a feature that marks sections to be ignored or remain unaligned.

Also, what is grain step?

Grain size is so impactful for reducing artifacts in these guitar DI's that it might be useful on the main page of the plugin.
Thank you.

Hello, zedeloc,

thank you very much for the kind words! I think there is already a way to do this by slicing one (or both) of the tracks in your DAW into the matching/non-matching regions. Then you can either align the matching ones a pair at a time, or you could select all of the regions and drag the Precision control (the little slider at the top right corner of the audio region in MTrackAlign UI) to zero on each of the pieces you want to ignore, and then hit Align.

To answer your other question: Grain step controls the time resolution of the alignment, the lower the step, the tighter the alignment (in principle, although large grain size can sometimes reduce this effect). Lower grain steps also require more processing power, causing the alignment to take longer.

We'll discuss moving the grain size to the main page.
Thank you very much again for the feedback!

Mikhail, thank you for that tip about slicing the tracks to isolate regions that you want to align differently or ignore completely. It works just as described.
