Yes I think so too. But I think most of the issues with the browser get back to functionality (or inherent limitations). For example, if i set (in the BANK section) "(ALL)", the other categories are all over the place for what presets get displayed. One thing that I think would be beneficial in the browser would be the ability to select multiple search categories. For example, CTRL-Click to select "Synth Pad", "Soundscapes", "Synth Misc", etc, under "Instrument Type". It seems having so many presets from so many sound creators, there are too many inconsistencies in how the presets have been catalogued which greatly diminishes the usefulness of the browser. Expanding the selection criteria would go a long way to alleviating SOME of this. I believe Teksonik brought this or similar up as an issue previously. Also, it looks like the browser filter is an all or nothing choice. If I select "Synth Pad" as an "Instrument type", then in the filter, type in "BT", I (correctly) get presets that contain "BT" (would be nice to see inclusion of a wildcard *,? etc to refine this if you are looking for something more specific), but I get leads, pads, and everything else under the sun. I am not sure if this is pointing to a flaw in the browser, or to a flaw in how the presets were created (Preset creators choosing all categories for every preset for example), or to me simply not understanding or performing the search incorrectly (which may get back to me being a knucklehead, or to some of the issues people seem to be having with SM3 that might be limiting its broader appeal.) Just my 2 cents.

I can allow multi-select for instrument types at least.

Thanks for this bug report, it was indeed a bug :)

Here's the latest version of the layout.

Preset Browser New Look.jpg

I think it might be better to let the user select the number of columns for presets list or attributes/authors/styles lists. 3 columns for instance doesn't fit all the preset names as seen above.

One important change: Instrument types/authors/attributes/styles lists share the same space. To switch between them you move mouse over instrument type/author/attribute/style text on the top left.

For instance, if you move mouse over the Author text (Aiyn Zahev), the authors list is displayed:

I guess my impression came from the fact that the amount of bug fixes per update didn't go down over the last year. But you're right, it's entirely possible that all those bugs have been there from the very beginning.

At some point, SM3 should be mostly bug free, I hope. Keep up the good work.

FEATURE REQUEST -- I've had SM3 for a while and just started digging in. There are many labels that when clicked on have drop down menus with further options. It would be good if this were universally indicated. As SM3 is a complex device with lots of options, knowing right away that there are additional "hidden" parameters that are very important would be helpful. Thank you.

NEVER MIND -- It appears that the labels with pop downs are highlighted differently.

Thank you.

i think that looks good Bulent. Thanks for being receptive to feedback (as always). This would give users the choice in how they would like the presets laid out (and how many) as there seemed to be a fair bit of disagreement among the people in the thread on this matter. Awesome the filter issue is a bug. Honestly, to me that is the biggest issue I had with the browser. Thank you and looking forward to next release.

Aside from the Preset Browser UI, I am making changes for the Shop UI as well. These changes will be released in v3.4, along with new factory presets, in a couple of weeks:

Hi Everybody. I've been with SynthMaster for 9 years on the 26th. It's been an enjoyable ride. The extensive layering/multi-modal of SM3 is what I've been dreaming of for three decades. Can the layers pass signal between them, not just modulation, but injecting into the digital audio stream? Can the output of a granular synth layer be fed as a carrier to a ring modulator layer? I'm dreaming of TurboSynth type spaghetti. I haven't been able to find any uninstaller tools for KV331, so yesterday I mapped all the places that KV331 installs. Before I publish the page, I'm going to attempt another full install of SM2, SMOne, SM3. This is the correct order still, yes?

Also, this is the official KV331 forum, yes? It's a part of the KVR Forum? Thanks!

Fresh install of SM2 - 2.9.17 (current 2024/06/15 release) onto Mac Studio M2 Ultra Sonoma 14.7.6 tonight. (macOS FULL download) - install went pretty well, except during the expansions populate, I got the msg "74 out of 76 preset banks were downloaded and installed successfully". During this, a hang happened where Expansion 45665-13 hung at 96.2% complete. So this one has a problem and it's possible that the one following it fails due to -13 not working out (or that two are mangled). This happened in an identical way on Jul 25 so something must be borked in 1-2 expansions.

In the folder: /Users/~user/Downloads/SynthMaster .. I can see that two zip files didn't get expanded (45665-19-Expansion 1-nks.zip , 45665-20-Expansion 1-nks.zip); BetterZip didn't open these per normal, so they may be corrupted. Note that these are NKS-related. I'm sorry the following list is long, but I know it'll be easy to tell which are the two problematic expansions as they will likely be omitted from this list.

The NKS install gave the msg "None of the preset banks were downloaded and/or installed" (but I can see in /Users/Shared/SynthMaster/NKS Presets/ that in fact 4267 were downloaded - these might be from the installer).

The public library download seemed to work fine, and of those 74/76 they all seemed to download correctly - and sound great! I don't remember syncing to the cloud but my Favourites and four presets of my own came back, which I was grateful for.

I think Logic Pro hates it when you switch between the fancy orange skin gui and Controls Mode - the AU plugin didn't come back to life after I did that.

AU/VST3/AAX plugin functionality all seemed great in Logic Pro/Nuendo 12 (Rosetta) and PTU 2025,6 (Silicon native)... so indeed SM2 is both Rosetta2/Silicon Native. Hope this helps!

This is normal no worries. We couldn't add NKS for our latest 2 SM2 expansions yet. That hang is also normal, at that time it is probably registering all expansions.

What is Controls Mode? that Logic displayes all parameters in one screen? I wouldn't recommend that for SM1/SM2, as they have lots of parameters. SM3 on the other hand, exposes only 64 parameters to the host DAW

Did the iOS version ever get completed and released? I’m wondering where we stand on compiling the Linux native version. :)
