Not sure how Jon would know anything about new hardware planned nor would he be able to share any of it anyhow.D-Fusion wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 10:41 am Where are you Jon?
I will ask again incase you missed my first post.
What will be the future of ACB Now that the System 8 has been silently discontinued?
Is a New Hardware planned to be released to replace it or will we see new products and plugins based on new technology?

It never hurts to ask and he must know something since he works for Roland

Hopefully they're working hard making a JP80xx reissue, even if it's a boutique it would be welcome or even just an ACB pluginD-Fusion wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 10:41 am Where are you Jon?

No problem at all! Thanks for the heads up as well I'll ask about that. I’m not sure if the copyright date is supposed to be updated per update or only when the instrument was created.Examigan wrote: Sat Aug 09, 2025 10:23 am Thanks for the info!
It now shows v1.06 (22009) when I load it into a project.
The plugin info screen and the manual both say copyright 2019. I am not sure if those dates get updated over time when changes are made, but thought I'd mention it.
We do frequently run promotions and discounts, Enigma. Recently, we ran a buy one get one deals, and currently are running a discounted price on the TR-808.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sun Aug 10, 2025 7:25 am Not interested in Roland Cloud, but I may be interested in a lifetime key of one of these, but hopefully during good sale deals. Do the lifetime key versions go on sale occasionally? When would be the best time to buy based on past sales?

One good way to get some free instruments is to sign up for Play 4 Life. We usually run this promotion early in summer and in the middle of fall. You sign up for an annual membership of Ultimate for one year, and you are able to collect two Lifetime Keys. That would be the biggest upcoming promotion that could get you a deal on the D-50 and JV-1080.
Hey D-Fusion, ACB is definitely not done. Somewhat recently, we incorporated ACB instruments inside the Fantom EX, and we still have plans to build ACB instruments and use ACB technology inside Roland Cloud. As for new hardware, I can't really speak to that because I don’t know what the plans are with the hardware department. Our projects have been a little out of the ACB realm recently, but it's very much a part of Roland Cloud.D-Fusion wrote: Sun Aug 10, 2025 8:44 pm Hi Jon
Is ACB done now or will we see some new ACB plugins and HW soon now that the System 8 is silently discontinued?

Roland Cloud exists because it's a port from Roland hardware. Current Roland Hardware runs on bespoke ASIC chips they call BCM, at the core of every Roland plugin is a BCM emulator so the plugins can run the same codeDashOfLime wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 3:26 pm Not sure how Jon would know anything about new hardware planned nor would he be able to share any of it anyhow.
ACB existed in hardware before the Cloud ACB products, Zen Core existed in Roland Hardware before the Zenology software came out
To think that the product cycles of both Roland Hardware and Software are not intertwined is rather naive
My personal belief is that Roland will come out with some kind of ACB Zencore hybrid situation where you can run Component Modeling inside of the partials in the Roland Four Partial Sample and Synthesis system that they have been marketing for 30 years
Essentially running component modeling as an oscillator and again as a filter in the four partial framework
This would be a significant sonic improvement over the current Zencore product in both hardware and software
Which would allow Roland to sell new hardware synths based on this running on the successor the current Roland ASIC chip which is now really long in the tooth
Or perhaps abandon ASICs entirely and go for off the shelf ARM based processors like Korg has done
That would allow Roland to sell new software as well

You’re right. It’s way off. For reasons, best known to Roland, they’ve incorrectly set MFX to VK Rotary instead of Rotary, and so none of the MFX settings are correct. By deliberately refusing to implement the whole 5080 FX structure you also can’t copy the chorus setting used. Worse, the reverb uses the “Stage 2” setting, where there’s no equivalent room setting on any of the Zenology reverbs. So you'd have to hand tweak one of the SRV-2000 settings to get closer.RichterX wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 10:32 am Even without delay and reverb. Try the Purple Spin preset, it doesn't sound the same at all between JV/XV and Zenology.
Even with the chorus/reverb FX off, and the correct MFX settings (which gets it closer) there's still an additional difference in this case (the original preset has more upper frequencies and less low end). I didn’t take the time to figure out why, but I wouldn’t trust any of the settings considering they couldn’t even get the basic MFX correct.

The Anthology 1990 was a sampled version of the D-70, but it isn’t available anymore. They made it free for a while, and then removed it so it couldn’t be downloaded.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sun Aug 10, 2025 7:25 am What would be the best Roland synth for great sounding pads and strings and especially for getting that Enigma "Space Dream" pad sound from D-70?

Maybe they weren’t selling as well as they thought they would?

To be fair, up until the latest TR-808 sale , I've yet to see Roland offer what most of us would consider sales prices.
Most of their cloud plugins are over priced for what you get. Especially considering the Jupiter and Juno plugins which have been done by other companies, and really do a much better job for a much better price point arguably.
I think the majority of users would like to see roland come back to reality and get off their high horse. No offense, but TAL offers J8 that actually has a BI-TIMBRAL Mode like the actual unit itself, and imo Acustica's THING 8 mops the floor vs the cloud option.
The System 8 HW synth has came way down in price now on the used market, you're literally better off buying a used system 8 vs the 3 or 4 plugins you get at a similar value from Roland.

The $99 Play4Life makes it a better deal since you get access to more items for a year. I think the D-50 is one of the best choices during that time since it has several extra preset banks already included.trusampler wrote: Wed Aug 13, 2025 12:05 am To be fair, up until the latest TR-808 sale , I've yet to see Roland offer what most of us would consider sales prices.

I’m not sure I would say that other companies do a much better job. I think the Roland Jupiter-8 is excellent, probably my favorite, though I like the Tal too, I find it quite different. Thing-8 sounds incredible but it has a lot of issues too.trusampler wrote: Wed Aug 13, 2025 12:05 am To be fair, up until the latest TR-808 sale , I've yet to see Roland offer what most of us would consider sales prices.

And the Roland JX—3P I absolutely love. So hard to make it sound bad. But yeah comparatively the Roland ones are a bit overpriced.
From what I’ve seen system-8’s still aren’t anywhere near the price of a year or cloud subscription but yeah given that you get hardware not a bad option. But you don’t get the plugins with it right? The models are locked in the hardware?

It comes with the Juno 106, Jupiter 8 and the JX3P plugout preinstalled in the Hardware so you don't have to buy those when you buy the System 8 unless you want them as vst's too.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Thu Aug 14, 2025 12:19 amI’m not sure I would say that other companies do a much better job.
