Conjures up all kinds of imagery.
A really nice mixture of floaty and spiky.
floaty and spiky - maybe a little like the shark tank in Thunderball

Thanks very much for taking the time to listen and comment, Scone. Glad you liked it :)

I liked those, it feels just right for me. I guess my hearing is numbed. Or are my speakers worn down...?
they were like the glacier cracking to me, as you often hear on the tv from around antarctica :)

maybe they were a touch too loud for some, being quite piercing, but not out of place,
great work tim 8)

All sounds on here were generated by Absynth. Gotta love those obsolete versatile synths.

I didn't think that Tribbles would carry enough menace, so I went with Absynth instead.

Absynth is always a good call.

Love that glitch...... :o :tu:
Tyvm for listening and commenting, PatchAdamz. Glad you enjoyed it, and glad you liked the glitch :)

Interestingly, one of Ozric Tentacles' albums was titled "Sliding Gliding Worlds". The root derivation of glitch comes from Yiddish glitschn, meaning "to slide, or glide".

Another great association that I hadn't considered

I'm still not sure about those levels. Maybe I could dial it back a little.

Just gave it a first listen and I like it. Glitchy but not overbearingly so. Some nice icy sounds. Ambient but with a slight sense of forward movement, could maybe survive a little more melody without leaving the ambient realm. Good track length, not too long or short.

Cool track Tim. I like the sound of Aliens flapping about...
Lovely flow to it and great sounds. The odd change of chord helps with the Thing.
Well done!

I'm never quite sure how far to go with the inclusion of structured melodic elements in these "ambient" pieces. Sometimes, I like to add melodic lines from a brassy or theremin-like synth, although I haven't tried this for almost three years. Maybe I'll try to re-introduce that in the near future, although my next three or four pieces certainly seem to have abandoned melody too :hihi:

My inspiration for the glitchy sounds were the Bioraptors from the movie "Pitch Black", but the bulk of the music was inspired by Antarctica. I was in a quandary - John Carpenter or David Twohy. Familiarity or incongruity. My decision was "Publish and be damned", although not quite in the same circumstances as the Duke of Wellington

Thanks very much for listening, and for the great comments, John. Glad you liked it :)

Great soundscape - well judged development throughout!

Background atmosphere is very definitely 'Antarctic' without a doubt....cold and expansive!

Little glitches / more forward sounds add lovely touches of movement and ''life''.
