Darn. I was hoping that it was a new thing that might slow down the parasites. Oh well...ChamomileShark wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 6:37 pmHad that happeing for about a month, now it no longer happens, no idea why..I think I posted about it, no one else knew either.GreyLion wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 6:31 pm Huh. Anyhow -- This is supposedly a quote from Purafied about the 'licenses out' message. Spotted it in the thread on SlickDeals:
Well that was crazy...
At the moment, we can't process orders or provide license codes because we've overloaded our license provider's server. They have asked us to find another solution.
We're working hard to fix this and will be back online soon.
Thanks so much for your patience and support!

I guess it's unclear about whether the deal will still be on when they come back up. But they gotta be experiencing a major spike in revenue from it, so I'd think it's likely.

That's amazing. Just goes to show you can be profitable with good deals and clever marketing. I hadn't heard of Purafied until their sale and it seems I'm not the only one, so this sale has undoubtedly earned them goodwill and some future customers as well. Maybe seeing them getting all these sales with $2 plugins will inspire all those devs suffering delusions of grandeur with $400 plugins to come back to earth a bit...who am I kidding?
Anyways, well played Sam & everyone at Purafied!

Carnivore Audio may have been reading this thread. They have a 'F**K IT All Plugins 19.99' sale on right now. 19.99 each.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Considering it looks like he just gave away his entire portfolio of plugins for 2 bucks, I doubt it. Good will and future customers have nothing to buy. They own it all.skarvika wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:27 pm That's amazing. Just goes to show you can be profitable with good deals and clever marketing. But more my concern would be random no name guy, who outsourced his plugin development, is potentially not going to stay on top of updates and support for very long.

Valid concern for sure, but Sam Pura has been around as a producer and engineer for many years, so he's not a "random no name guy". As for outsourcing his plugins, well, yeah, loads of people do that, nothing unusual about that!VitaminD wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:51 pmBut more my concern would be random no name guy, who outsourced his plugin development, is potentially not going to stay on top of updates and support for very long.
They don't use ilok, they don't phone home or depend on an internet connection. Punch in your license code and enjoy. For less than a Starbucks coffee, what have you got to lose?

Guess I'm operating under the assumption that they'll publish more plugs in the future. They're definitely on the radar now for people who didn't know about them until this week and I'm sure there will be people who will be happy to have more from them in the future if they do.VitaminD wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:51 pmConsidering it looks like he just gave away his entire portfolio of plugins for 2 bucks, I doubt it. They are already in need and of a promised update to the tiny preset system, which is on kiive actually. I already had most of them, just bought it since there were 2 that I didn’t and to support him as well. Nice guy ime.

I'm somewhat surprised Sam didn't ask for something like $10 for the collection. I'm sure he would have had as many sales with 5x the revenue. Hopefully he has more plugins in the pipe now so many people have the full set.

Just now hit the Purafied site. Looks like the deal is back up. Wouldn't let me add more that a $2.38 tip, though, which is a shame. They deserve more just for the audacity of it all.

Never heard of him. Outsourcing his plugins isn't the issue. He doesn't seem to be predominately focused on plugins from the looks of it. It seems to be a side gig for him.cprompt wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:58 pmValid concern for sure, but Sam Pura has been around as a producer and engineer for many years, so he's not a "random no name guy". What do I have to lose? Around $2.38. And, more so, a lot of frustration of including these things into my workflow onto to find out 2, 3, or 5 years later they don't work/have a bug/new computer and he's discontinued the lot because the cost of paying someone to maintain and host them exceeds the money he was making on them. I mean he just effectively gave them away. So he's already devalued the entire product lineup significantly.
Maybe it's for you but it's not for me.

A LOT of frustration? I mean, 3 years from now you hit a bug, recognize it for what it is, can the plug if there isn't a patch and move on? We're all doing this daily I'd assume. It ain't that big a deal. I mean, for work... I've got the bullet proof stuff. For art? If I buy a tube of paint I don't use for a bit , it dries up I chuck it and open a new one. If it's shitty maybe I'll use it once and forget about it. That's kind of how I see the 8 millions plugins Ive acquired in bundles or sales. Sorting through them is a whole other can of worms but that's just like a toy box when there's time for fun ya' know? lol.. but surely not a LOT of frustration. Just like.. a little maybe?

When they were new, they were still pretty cheap, I had 4 of them, 1 for about $10, 1 free,
the rest were not overly expensive, iirc.
Maybe the reverb, which i passed on at the time.

Yes, a lot of frustration. If you end up adding it to your workflow, then canning it isn't really an easy job if it has become part of your sound. But fair point you don't consider this a quality plugin suite to rely on. Yet that again is why I think I'll save my $2.38t.o.t.s. wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 1:24 am "And, more so, a lot of frustration of including these things into my workflow onto to find out 2, 3, or 5 years later they don't work/have a bug/new computer and he's discontinued the lot because the cost of paying someone maintain and host them exceeds the money he was making on them."
