That does seem silly af. It obviously has to change. I'm unlikely to use that feature, recording instruments and what not. I don't want some random key name hanging out at the top.tumface wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:57 pmYeah, it's odd. There's also no way to hide it or turn it off. I have a pelog heptatonic song for Indonesian gamelan and Bitwig is proudly displaying C Major at the top of the project and there's no way to hide it or dim it or turn it offaMUSEd wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:55 pm Why is it limited to such a standard palette of scales? Would be better if you could just import Scala files or create your own![]()

Would love to see two full-screen screenshots showing the same busy project in both versions, so that we can actually compare the GUI changes between Bitwig 5 and Bitwig 6.tumface wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:49 pm I just opened up Bitwig 5 to see if a bug was new in 6 or not, and it felt like going back in time 100 years.
A busy project like this:

Or this:

Thank you.

Tested B6 for a few hours... Crashes audio engine everytime I drag samples in timeline while playing the song. Random audio engine crashes while song is playing.
Latest Macos on M2 Max, native plugins only, core audio, 128 samples.

Not the beta OS, right? That's known to cause crashes on basically everything.

Short answer: MAX/MSP (&Co) reality landtumface wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 7:34 pmThese are very important features for many users that have been requested for years, delivered all together as a well-designed and coherent update on top of one of the DAW that has some of the most robust internals of them all. I have no idea what fantasy land this comment is coming from, frankly.monolithx wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 7:32 pm I doNew fancy colored features on weak foundations. And they remain as is after this update.
Less short answer: I don't care too much about editing features, there are enough others DAWs and tools for that out there. Multichannel? VST3 midi? Controls UI? CC and Remotes management? MIDI manipulation (not modulators!)? Nope.
Note regarding the legendary "most robust internals": trust me, not on Windows...

I'm under the impression Bitwig was started because Max/MSP integration tanked the software quality of Ableton Live, and some engineers left out of frustration. Though the initial high level of crashiness from Live 8 has been mitigated now, you can see the ongoing effect it has on Ableton Live with some prominent people complaining in the last few weeks that Live projects get slow to interact with due to the LOM after a few dozen routable audio objects are in a project. Bitwig, of course, can handle many thousands of tracks/racks without any noticeable slowdown.
No problems here. I use it on both Mac and Windows.Note regarding the legendary "most robust internals": trust me, not on Windows...

Since there seems to be other daws that satisfie your needs I'm asking you yet another time why the heck are you even here complaining? Why don't you just accept the fact that Bitwig is not the daw for you and move on?monolithx wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 11:19 pm

I am just scratching the surface of this update but it seems to be the bigger I witnessed by far (I started using bitcoin with version 4). I hope there will be good learning material available on the net.
