do you mean for a pad or desktop?

Post

I see innovative midi keyboards that work on the iPad. Would be great to have them or something similar to work under windows. Yes a multi-touch keyboard will be required. You can get one for a little as $100. Not sure if there are enough musicians that have MT screens for their PC's that may become your customers.

I will try again if this did not answer your question.

If you have time, I’d be interested in a bit more detail, it does appeal to me but I’m not up to speed on desktop touch at all. Also what’s the multi touch keyboard/$100?

I have a seaboard block, although some capacitor or similar burnt out in it last year, so it only works via Bluetooth now annoyingly, but it still charges. It enabled me to implement MPE for Sidetrack.

Ahh ok I see, so you want an MPE keyboard app for the touchscreen, what would be the ideal layout? Have you tried any of the apps like MIDI Designer Pro, Lemur, TouchOSC etc?

Post

Xotopad is stand-alone Windows programs not a plugin.
It runs as a midi keyboard controller but I prefer VST plugins.

Multi-touch need not be MPE capable.
MT also works on VST instruments and audio fx

MIDI Designer Pro does not work on Windows
TouchOSC does not make VST’s
Lemur by Liine, had issue with this ten years ago.
Wait a minute!
Lemur now owned and supported by midikinetics.

Will look into this but still I prefer ready to use midi keyboard VST’s.

I have my iPad connected to my PC through iConnectmidi2+.
The midi iOS apps can control the Windows programs.
I prefer that midi keyboard controllers run as VSTs not iOS apps.

iPad has many innovative audio and midi apps.
Only a very few are also available as Windows VST.
Some ideas for Windows VST plugins:

Oh I didn’t know MDP didn’t work on windows, I have used it on Mac, but it might just be they allow the iOS app to be used. I don’t Remember. It’s a shame, it’s very good.

OK well I’ll keep it in mind, most of the work would be designing GUI components for the desired actions, the MIDI side would be easy enough. Are you thinking keyboard layout, hex layout or LINN fret like etc? I mean if I did that, I would likely just do it as a free product as long as doesn’t need to be sophisticated/a ton of Labour.

Hi Andy, is hgsounds.com down? Server gremlins again?

I was interested ages ago in SideTrack but it was intermittently crashing Reaper, I was hoping the rewrite might have it fixed.

Wishing you well Andy.

Hi Annette,

Oh it is! Should be OK now.

This is a completely new build basically, as far as my testing goes it has been solid so far. I’ve done quite differently in the new instrument, and it should be far more robust theoretically as well as lighter on CPU.

I really need to just package it up and get it out in the wild, hopefully I can get something out this week.

Yep sites back up.

Great SideTrack news Andy, I'll check back on the site in a week or so and hopefully they'll be a demo. No rush though Andy take your time.

Thanks for all your hard dedicated work.

Hi Andy - hgsounds.com is down.

No pressure of course but any sidetrack info/demo out there yet?

Thanks
