afaik, if i'm not mistaken, 0.01 is called "a hundredth"

sorry for my hairsplitting-mode ;-)

No need to apologize! .01 is indeed a hundredth, I just went and did a brain-stupid. :ud:

Was it ever answered why the Original Poster needed an alternative to TrackSpacer when TrackSpacer is so widely available?

I ended up buying Laser and I think it's the best kick-to-bass sidechain ducker, but TrackSpacer still rules for de-masking.

Tried a few things, but never could find an alternative.

Several folks have been asking why you wanted one in the first place? Was there something you didn't like about it in particular?

The issue i have with trackspacer is broad strokes it does, however it’s probably better at scooping transient material. For melodic/harmonic stuff soothe2 scoops less destructively

I love Trackspacer. Been using it for a few years and never had any reason to look for an alternative as, for me, if it ain't broke, it doesn't need fixing. I have most of the competition mentioned here as well, but I use each for specific cases. Recently got Smooth Operator Pro, and I really like what it does. The pro version is much better than the standard version.

I was unfortunately forced to look for an alternative to Trackspacer earlier, as I got a new 4k screen, and things that looked great on my old 1080p, now look very different. Trackspacer became Gigantisaurus, and I just made it worse when I tried to tweak some things, and kinda broke it, so I ended up using Soothe 2 and had good results, and surprisingly, no latency.
Tried MSpectralDynamics, but I wasn't impressed with it's response ( the threshold was all the way, but there was very little movement on the analyser in this case )

So I had to check the others, but Trackspacer is still my go-to. I'll get back to using Trackspacer when I get some help resizing it from wavesfactory and their great customer support...... which I know from past experience will be quick.

Kilohearts' new Compactor plugin would address the same use case as Trackspacer, albeit in a different way.

Totally agree. Trackspacer is really nice plugin. Use it so much as well. Soothe is also good, but iron Ilok. And it's the reason for me to use Trackspacer as the main plugin

There is a freeware called The Masker. Developed to be an alternative to Trackspacer. It's burried in this list of plugins. Scroll down: https://audioplugins.lim.di.unimi.it/index.php?p=2

A good free alternative that I use is one called Mix Space https://www.kvraudio.com/product/mix-sp ... ed/details

It does the job for me :tu:

I use United Plugins FireSpacer for this. It's a bit more versatile than Trackspacer, but you lose some of the simplicity.

M-Blender from Techivation can work well.

I got the one from Sonible and it actually works great. The Learn: Unmask is what it's called. You have a lot of control also.

Trackspacer works great, it's affordable, it's simple.
Why an alternative? 8)
