But it's just me or we can't move between onsets on audio clips using the arrow keys left and right like we used to?

I mean what it does at minute 4:28 of this video!
Yeah seems broken. Just seems to be moving based on grid steps for me. A lot of stuff is broken in this update. I think it'll take a few more months to get things in working order. They changed so many areas of editor and arranger.

I installed the Bitwig 6 beta and Bitwig 5.3.13 seems to be working fine for me---Windows 11.
Yeah the beta can be installed, but I wouldn't want to use that for anything I wanted to save. Too many disclaimers about losing project files.

I haven't heard anybody about automation curves yet! :hihi:

This was a long standing wish for me, because the old way was super clunky to create smooth fade-ins and fade-outs. I find it a bit weird that this only works for the spray tool, though. I guess the spray tool will become my new pencil tool

You can do that anytime with a set of selected notes, doesn't matter how they were created.

It’s probably been around before, but I’ve just discovered the mega-fix myself :D

This is unbelievable. How can one of the most-asked-for features, and not so complex, be ignored? All other DAWs can do this.

It is INCONCEIVABLE. WILDLY beyond belief. Almost in the realm of absurdity. My GOODNESS, this is horrible.

Yeah I would like to see that as well. For now I use rewind.

BazJacuzzi wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 12:34 am One annoyance: editing a drum pattern with a minimal kit, the drum/hybrid midi editor note heights can get absurdly large. I'd rather have them smaller and have an unused area beneath.
Totally agree, in version 5 the notebheights kept the same height. Of you wished you could zoom. Now it zooms automatically

I honestly don't mind it, especially compared to what it was like before. Fat drums demand fat notes.

BobDog wrote: Fri Aug 29, 2025 6:21 pm For me I would wait until the actual release, or as @MegaPixel says, maybe 6.1.
My update plan is still live, but my actual update is usually based around what I'm working on.

I'm working on a project so I won't upgrade until that's done.

If we could still install multiple versions at the same time I'd probably start using the new version for sketches and new ideas from the 6.0 release.
Are you on Mac? I do have multiple versions installed.

I decided to jump in and give it a try. My first time with a Bitwig beta. I've got 3 problems/questions that I wonder if anyone has the answer to:

1) The tools all have a number hotkey to access them, but the new spray tool seems to share the number 4 with the eraser tool, and pressing 4 only selects the eraser tool. Is that how it's meant to be?

2) I'm sure I saw someone in one of the demos select a bunch of automation and then reduce the overall range of those automation points. Does anyone know how you do this?

3) When editing velocities, I could have sworn I used to be able to use the selection tool to drag velocities up and down, but I seem to need to use the pencil or spray can tool to do this now. Does that sound right?

You need to reset to the default keyboard shortcuts. If you were previously using customized shortcuts, Bitwig 6 tries to import them, but it gets messed up because there are too many new shortcuts that conflict with the old ones. The easiest thing to do is to start fresh with the new defaults and then customize them to your liking again.

Switch to the Time Selection tool and hold Alt or Option. Use the edges of the selection if you want to scrunch it up towards one corner.

With the Pointer Tool, hold Ctrl+Shift (or Cmd+Shift) and drag up or down on one of the selected notes.

1) Go into settings and reset your shortcuts to default.

2) Hit 2 for the time select tool. Make a time selection. Hold Alt key and hover in different areas of the selection to do things like raise/lower the selection, scale the selection, etc.

3) Selection tool is working fine here. Are you in Drum mode? There is a bug with velocity in Drum mode and Bitwig said it will be fixed (probably next beta)

Post

@tumface @pdxindy thanks so much. For the velocity issue, yes it was in drum mode. Where should I be reading to keep informed about things like the bugs Bitwig have accepted?

_leras wrote: Sat Aug 30, 2025 1:17 am What I would really love is for them to make some new grid types i.e. an x0x type drum grid. I also think they should have some other kind of sequencer type clips, where you can duplicate and edit variations in the sequence pattern per clip. I can dream I guess that they have seen my feature request.
This has been my feature request for years, and my reason for switching back to Studio One (once their clip launcher was introduced). Studio One’s pattern editor is brilliant.

However, about those variations… I read in Bitwig 6’s release notes that they introduced a ‘Pattern chooser’. Isn’t this somewhat comparable to ‘variations’ in Studio One’s pattern editor? I really hope so.

I can’t try Bitwig 6 myself at the moment, as I’m vacationing.
