that's a bummer. there's a wavetable waveshaper for reaktor and pure data as well as the Kilohearts one if it's something you want to use.aMUSEd wrote: Tue Sep 02, 2025 4:52 pmYeah but on Mac it needs RosettaAh_Dziz wrote: Tue Sep 02, 2025 3:06 pmGrind can still be used for free. Kilohearts' ShaperTable is probably the closest to Grind at this point.

I know, and have the Kilohearts one, but there is something I like in Grind that makes it more than just a wavetable distortion effect - I think there is some additional saturation that makes it sound greatAh_Dziz wrote: Tue Sep 02, 2025 5:20 pmthat's a bummer. there's a wavetable waveshaper for reaktor and pure data as well as the Kilohearts one if it's something you want to use.aMUSEd wrote: Tue Sep 02, 2025 4:52 pmYeah but on Mac it needs RosettaAh_Dziz wrote: Tue Sep 02, 2025 3:06 pmGrind can still be used for free. There is an algorithmic distortion after the wavetable/ shaper that has a selectable distortion mode. It does sound great. I still use it all the time. Mostly on simple synth sounds or drums. It's great for sound design.

Check out blepfx. Their Filter and Destuctor plugin do some very nice saturation

I've never actually loaded kombinat onto a track, so I don't know.aMUSEd wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 5:50 pmYes so is that also in Kombinat?Ah_Dziz wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 9:04 am There is an algorithmic distortion after the wavetable/ shaper that has a selectable distortion mode. I usually provide very mild parallel saturation to each individual instrument and/or voice. But not always. Like alluded to earlier, it's a seasoning, not a main ingredient.
I rarely if ever put saturation on the whole mix.

I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent
