I had a random Bitwig crash in the beta todaym it think I've only ever had one Bitwig crash before.
I was trying to move loops points in the audio edit window. (Something I don't do much of).
But full Kudos to Bitwig it had saved my im progress project to a check point and restored everything when I'm reopened and then worked fine.
Had a couple of odd mouse moments, mainly around the timeline. I was trying to cut short samples out of something and was doing it in arrange and looping, trying to change loop range and cut the track and delete time sections. Still some fiddly slight inconsistencies..

You mean you don't consider the new automation editing features useful for processing audio?permeke wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 3:35 pm I'm reading very little to nothing about the audio section improvement.
To me it's becoming an oversized midi box.

Show me one creative automation feature for audio.

Well I would say the creative part is the automation and being able to control it in more advanced ways?
Are you just against automation?

So I checked out the Beta today.
Jesus Christ, it seems the same deranged person who messed up the popup-browser now starts to ruin all of the GUI.
The great thing about Bitwig was the clarity.
Why mess up everything that was good about Bitwig?
Seems I'll stay on Bitwig 4 forever and move to another DAW in the longer run.
I didn't expect this, had even some hope that the browser would be improved...
A really sad day for me, Bitwig was an important thing in my life for many years and felt like home.
It's like if your beloved kid is growing up and suddenly it becomes a crackhead.

Have you seen what they have done to gruop tracks?

I think there is a good chance they will revert the group master... with suitable user feedback

Aliases work for audio clips.permeke wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 3:35 pm I'm reading very little to nothing about the audio section improvement.
Automation clips are useful when working with audio.
Working with audio clips in the clip editor is greatly improved in a number of ways.
There's a bunch of other improvements that benefit everyone, regardless of whether they mainly work with midi or audio.

I really hope so. If not, I will stay with 5 forever. I'm ultrafast with 5 and the overhaul to automation (missing last parameter lane in unfolded automation lane) and the new groups would just slow me down and all the new can't compensate for lost workflow. Let's see.

I haven't sent in an email yet about the group master. I figure they are focused on all the crashes and obvious bugs... but I will soon.stamp wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 7:50 pmI really hope so. What have they made less clear? I'm not really getting that from the updated UI.ThomasHelzle wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 6:54 pm The great thing about Bitwig was the clarity.

(I also preferred the old browser, but the new one is still better than most other DAWs. It's actually fine once you have got a bit more used to it and start setting up collections etc)

What is the group tracks issue?
I haven't noticed a problem, but also haven't tried to do much beyond group tracks to add group FX so far...
