Disable Auto-Tempo default?

I am new to Waveform 13.5 Pro but using Tracktion since version 2.

I record a radio show every week. This involves dragging mp3 files into my project and adding dialogue. I used to use Tracktion 7 for this (because I started the radio show ages ago and never converted until now)

Did my first show using 13.5 last week. I had to pull my last show because of crazy sounding audio...too slow, wrong key....crazy stuff. I learned it happens because a feature called 'auto-tempo' and sometimes 'auto-pitch' get activated randomly. Random, because not all mp3 files are hit by this, only some.

I tried to select all files and turn off auto-tempo....no dice can't do that have to go one by one. Furthermore when you change the setting it changes the file size in the grid, causing me to have to shift my dialog parts all over the place.

Figuring this out and fixing it added a day to my process. I don't want to have to do this every week.

Is there a way to disable auto-tempo and auto-pitch by default?

I understand it is probably quite useful to people that are creating music from random loops.

Settings -> General -> Editing -> Detect tempo of imported audio files
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I don't think this option benefits anybody. At this point, this "feature" generates more complaints here than anything else.

When you drag in a MIDI file from another project, Waveform asks if you want to change the BPM to match the source or ignore it. I don't know what there can't be a similar prompt when working with audio files.

Good news: if you follow Pough's suggestion, you won't have to worry about that any further. It's a "one and done" solution.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

To be fair, none of the people who like it have a reason to complain so we don't hear from them.

That might be better, although if your workflow includes using lots of loops then it would be a pain.

Both fair points!

It might not be random. It might be happening for any files that have the pitch already set. I've had that happen with WAV files, anyways. I was working with a number of files. Some had just the tempo set and some had both tempo and pitch information.

I wish I could find a good file editor that allowed me to see and set that information.
