Of course! I absolutely love pointless discussions. Which is enirely the reason I hang around KVR.

I like that idea. Hardware might be tricky to enforce however. Also, can I use all three different 101 plugins I have - Softube, TAL, D16 - or would I need to stick to one :)
You have to choose. I'm sure that the choices that people make would trigger discussions, hopefully, some would be interesting. However, you would hear a single synth in many contexts, like you do now, except that different models of that synth might yield different insights. Obviously, this is not science, it's just people making some music to foster discussion.

Good points. I enjoying checking out the one synth challenge output for this very reason. Having a SH101 challenge with its simple architecture plus the sequencer could add an intersting twist.

Another interesting track that was created around an SH101 which could open up another big debate is Silent Shout by The Knife:

It has been said that the main synth line was entirely sequenced with the SH101 sequencer. Others have put it down to clever realtime manipulation of the arp.
The sound is also debated - a pair of 101s linked together through a chorus or a Minimoog...

Sounds like mainly SH with some quiet DX. And drums and vocals.
Yes, exactly. It's very sparse. I'm certain that I've heard them before, but, I'm not a big fan of industrial. Some stuff I like gets close to it and I've had some albums in the back that I listened to more just because I had the Tape/Vinyl/CD at the time, Front 242 - Front by Front comes to mind. I'm sure that I have Murderous on some mixtape or comp somewhere because the track is familiar and it's what I associate with the band name.

Yep, sparse indeed, but the synths do sound great, of course.

Problem with EBM for me was the vocals, not my cup of tea.
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus
