That is a drum's based plugin.

I have tried most of them, if not all the STNs available.

The best sound comes from Blue Lab STN.

I’ve never been a cheapskate when it comes to buying plugins, but that one from Bluelab that separates tonal from noise is more expensive than I expected to pay. $80 is what I would pay without any hesitation for a plugin I’m going to use very often, and that’s the catch : I need to divide noise and tonal only when I have very specific issues...

Maybe that’s why the plugins that are doing the same thing are freeware... not the most hyped plugins out there ?

If you’re reading Bluelab, please consider a sale, and as you can see here, a few people may be really interested. But maybe not at that price tag. Now you’re the boss.

Hello Puduku,

The BlueLab STN plugin was on sale during all the month of August. It was not anymore since the beginning of September.
I've setup again a sale until end of September.

Thank you so much, purchased ! :tu: :tu: :tu:

(EDIT : oh sorry, same guy behind the two accounts. Used the wrong one by mistake, the one for read only, forgot I was on the wrong machine. Just haven't figured out if I keep the old account or if I swap to the new one. No malicious procedure intended. Simply wanting a new start...)

What can you do if a better sounding STN does not exist.

ZL Splitter maybe? It's a bit of a multi splitter. Still in beta but pretty neat already:

Jonathan, just tried ZL Splitter. I couldn't make it work, just a simple spectrum analyzer.

when you move you rmoouse over the left side of the GUI a panel will show up with several options. more info here: https://zl-audio.github.io/plugins/zlsplitter/manual/
(didn´t watch the video, but most likely it shows you how to do it).

Thank you. I managed to test it.

Unfortunately, there are high FFT artifacts on ZL Split. In comparison, Blue Lab STN has a very clean FFT process. And it doesn't isolate Noise.

Someone mentioned iZotope RX; I think the specific module is called Deconstruct, or something similar – this is the one you’re looking for. It explicitly separates and lets you rebalance Tonal and Noisy (and also Breathy) components.

(Ozone/Neutron/Neoverb etc. don’t do tonal/noise separation per se.)

Bump this up.

Any news on this?

So far, world's best STN plugin is the one from Blue Lab!

In some cases, separation into stems using UVR beta or Spectralayers 12 helps.
