MuLab App M10.1.3 beta for Win64 is available on https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... /beta.html

MuLab Plugin M10.1.3 beta for Win64 is available on https://www.mutools.com/mulab/plugin/la ... /beta.html

What's changed:
  • Plugin Manager now opens in a non-modal resizable window and memorizes its position and size.
    You can drag-drop files on the plugin manager to add plugins.
    You can drag-drop list items from the project browser to sync the plugin manager list view.
    You can drag-drop list items from the plugin manager to tracks, racks, modular areas, ... the same way as can be done from the project browser.
  • Adding, renaming and removing a category in the Plugin Manager now can be done for a selection.
  • When (re)scanning, the very last added plugin was not imediately shown in the project browser. Fixed.
  • Plugin Manager -> Right-click plugin item -> Rename has been moved to the info frame context menu because this is about renaming the plugin DLL database name, not the plugin name itself.
    This rename function should only be used exceptionally, in special (legacy) cases. More details will be in the docs soon.
  • Adding the plug type appendix did not yet work inside category or developer groups. Fixed.
  • Editing categories in the Plugin Manager did not always auto refresh the project browser. Fixed.
  • When a MUX is used in a modular patch and you loaded another preset for that MUX, the cables for that MUX were lost. Fixed.
  • Other small improvements.

Nice update! Thank you very much :tu:

Some room for improvement:
(1) Multi selecting plugins in the plugin manager is not yet as easy as desired. Usually (speaking for Windows!) you CTRL-click single items to select / deselect them. When you SHIFT-click items then you create a selection range from the last clicked item to the SHIFT-clicked one. So all items between them will be selected.

(2) Options -> "Recan All": What does that actually do?
I am hoping for a function that is able to find NEW plugins or changes (plugins have been moved or removed etc.) in the previously defined favorites folders. Because I update my plugins from time to time (buy new ones, change structure, uninstall some...).
A function that automatically batch updates all plugins based on predefined (favorite) folders would be handy.

To answer your question: It rescans all plugins in the database.

Nice to have the Plugin Manager in non-modal window :tu:

Drag and drop is working well.
Except when adding a plugin via drag and drop from explorer - successfully scans and adds the plugin, updates the browser, dialog appears saying successfully scanned and added, but the Plugin Manager list does not update for the added plugin after ok pressed. The new plugin only appears in the plugin manager after it has been closed and re-opened.

Also, when clicking 'favourite' in the properties pane of plugin manager, the browser list has to be refreshed to show this.

Also, adding a plugin by dragging onto the timeline (from windows explorer - a very handy feature) updates the browser list, but not the plugin manager list until closed and reopened.

Thanks a lot Richard for your good testing and reporting, very helpful :tu: :clap:

Thanks for your feedback. The Shift+lasso method is something i picked up long long time ago. It's consistently used in MuLab. Changing it in the Plugin Manager would mean having to change it at many places and possibly having to change other things then to avoid overlap. Could be a lot of work. I'll keep it as is for now.

Ah, wow, I didn't even know that it is working this way :dog:
Ok, sure, that's also quite nice and working!

Thanks for the insight and the great work! :phones:

MuLab App M10.1.4 beta for Win64 is available on https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... /beta.html

MuLab Plugin M10.1.4 beta for Win64 is available on https://www.mutools.com/mulab/plugin/la ... /beta.html

What's changed:
  • MuLab Plugin: Opening the plugin manager in MuLab Plugin caused a crash. Fixed.
  • Several fixes wrt. using the new non-modal plugin manager. (ie. missing list updates after adding or changing plugs etc)
  • When a MUX is used in a modular patch and you quickly load several other presets for that MUX, the cables for that MUX were lost. Fixed.
  • Support for a OnQuitScript.xml in your MuLab/User/Settings subfolder which allows copying certain setup files to other MuLab installation folders.
About the optional OnQuitScript.xml in your MuLab/User/Settings subfolder:
It eases copying certain setup files to other MuLab installation folders.
This tool needs to be used with care. The user is fully responsible for copying setup files around !
It's virtually the same as copying a file using the Windows' Explorer / Mac's Finder, only that there now is an option to do this more easily/automatically upon quitting MuLab.
There is no version checking of the copied setup file, but you can choose to have a confirmation check before copy and doublecheck for yourself if you want to copy.
For MuLab Plugin this script will be executed upon deletion of the last instance.
For now only the Shortcuts and Plugin Database can be copied using this tool.
Below is an example xml file which can be used as a template.
You can add multiple actions, eg. when you want to copy setup files to several other MuLab installs.
Attention, again: This copy tool is on full user's responsibility!
Also take into account that when multiple MuLabs are active at the same time, eg. MuLab App and MuLab Plugin, they could overwrite each other's changes.
It's not planned to handle such parallel cases.
It's up to the user to take care and decide.

Code: Select all

<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?>"
<OnQuitScript>
  <Action>
    <What>CopySetupFile</What>
    <Which>Shortcuts</Which>
    <To>C:\SomeFilePath</To>
    <Confirm>No</Confirm>
  </Action>
  <Action>
    <What>CopySetupFile</What>
    <Which>PluginDatabase</Which>
    <To>C:\SomeFilePath</To>
    <Confirm>Yes</Confirm>
  </Action>
</OnQuitScript>

Sorry for the rather out of context image here. This is a screen shot of the "Project Main Module" front panel (big, empty black box), the modular area with the Plugin shown as having been set as Project Main Module and Sforzando (VST2). Shouldn't the plugin's front panel show as the Main Module area? Or isn't that possible?

I guess it's technically possible, but it's not something quick and easy.
Not planned on short term, sorry.

MuLab App M10.1.5 beta for both Mac & Windows 64 bit are available on https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... /beta.html

MuLab Plugin M10.1.5 beta for Win64 is available on https://www.mutools.com/mulab/plugin/la ... /beta.html

What's changed:
  • Composer track area now also has an options button aside the Add Track button, similar to the Add Rack + Options buttons in the rack desk. More consistent and user friendly.
    This options menu contains a relevant functions that are also available in the composer options menu, at the right of the tempo display, but this button below the tracks may be more intuitive.
  • Composer -> Render To Audio functions: After such function was performed, the very next play could have a little lag. Fixed.
