wondering if granular synths is on the featurelist for it?
Sorry I missed this...

So yes, granular processing is on the list - it will apply to sampler and loop voices (maybe not both at first), but not to synth voices. It's currently pencilled in for Version 3.0, which isn't a version currently on this years road map - so it wont happen soon, and as a major version update 2.x ->3.x will likely include some upgrade fee. There will however be a truck load more stuff in there as well - including possibly another synthesis method.
thx so much, this is very interesting, cause i am still looking for a great Alchemy replacement which still doesnt exist. and Horizen seems very capable of many things and the morphing seems great.
i dunno if i will buy it soon or wait. what would make me buy it would be.
- granular oscs
- adding custom folders for randomization, that would be fun, having set up the OSCs and hitting random and Horizen just loads random samples from your folders.

Well we already do this - only with a bit more flexibility:

If you open the randomisation engine you will see a section called SAMPLER RANDOMISATION, where you can decide which samplers to randomise(load a new sound) and which to leave alone... For those you are randomising there are two options:
- Any Voice - which will load any sound you currently have installed
- Similar Voice - which will use the tags in the currently loaded voice, collect together all the sounds using one or two of these tags and then load one of these sounds

So you could add a tag called "My randomisation faves" to all those sounds you want to include in randomisation, load any one of them and then Horizen will randomise through this set for samplers(voices) that have one of your faves loaded. No need for separate folders...and now you can make up lists to randomise on the fly just by selecting tags and loading a compliant sound....then randomising from there.

This looks great, but would I be correct in thinking that you can only load your own samples in the 2 'loop' players, and not the sample engines ? If so, is there any particular reason for this other than 'expansion packs' ?

Yes correct load into the "loop players" - tho' loop playing is but one of their capabilities. Beyond that then if you just want one sound (wav file) loading you are not getting any great additional benefit from using the samplers, they're using the same time stretching algo. If however you want to load your own multi-sample set then that's a whole new work-flow/interface ball game - and no one has ever found a simple easy way round the ugly time consuming zones/keys/matrix approach. Perhaps one day we will look at it but it (multi sample support) is not high on our list, plus there's been no tsunami of requests for it. The only other reason is "not enough hours in the day to get everything done"....but Im sure we are not alone in that.
