Are you talking about sequencing external hardware?

No, midi sequencer VST's sequencing other VST's breaks the PDC so everything is out of syncI_Am_Become_KVR wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 11:04 amAre you talking about sequencing external hardware?

That's unfortunate. Any chance that a chainer VST might be a workaround?Digivolt wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 11:08 am No, midi sequencer VST's sequencing other VST's breaks the PDC so everything is out of sync

Maybe they are waiting for windows midi services to be released? Microsoft are expected to release it in the next two months, and it will finally bring multiclient midi and audio to windows. If I am understanding correctly it will make all midi devices multiclient, and class compliant, and end the need to install drivers. My guess is that daw developers can enhance their product to make them work with the new release, and maybe past products will not be able to take advantage of the new ability? Just guessing, maybe someone knows more.

While I think we will all benefit from this - cannot see Presonus holding anything back becuase of it. And I also heard this will not be officially released (as part of Windows 11 25H2) until 2026 anyway.dellboy wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 11:38 am Maybe they are waiting for windows midi services to be released? Yes, you are probably right. I was thinking more about the developer time that will be needed to make everything work. Maybe they could release anyway and it will start functioning when the new windows version is released.Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 11:53 amWhile I think we will all benefit from this - cannot see Presonus holding anything back becuase of it. Well - I am not a MIDI hardware maven myself - and every single thing that I do now in Studio One - WITH MIDI works perfectly.dellboy wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 12:08 pmYes, you are probably right. I do not know the full story on what MIDI Services will suddenly bring to the table (outside of full support for MIDI 2.0 devices - which I have none) in Windows 11 - but I do know this has been a long time coming.
Just do not see this as being something that Presonus will hang their hat on in terms of keeping Studio One exciting or delay any releases for.
I mean - tons of S1 users use this app with no care for MIDI at all.

Personally, the main reason that I have stayed on version 6 is because the upgrade is more than I want to pay. I upgrade Cubase Pro every year, and have just upgraded in the the current sale and paid £49 for it. That is where I see the Studio One upgrade price. So, as things stand, it could be a few years before I see a reason to upgrade at the higher price they ask. If Presonus are happy doing business in this way, so am I. Strangely, since they introduced the new pricing system I have stopped using Studio One, even though it remains a superb daw and does everything I need.

But do remember if you and I got together here in Canada - 50 UK Pound Sterling is still almost 100 CDN dollars. I have paid $149CDN for every S1 upgrade since 2011 and I still think it is a small price to pay for what you get.
Now - If you are being asked to pay 149 UK pound Sterling for an S1 upgrade - I see your point. You are getting shafted.
Good on you for standing your ground. If something does not appeal - speak with your wallet.

I have just bought a Kurzweil K2700 keyboard and it has a built in usb audio interface and an editor app. Neither work under windows while running a daw, an essential need. Now add that I want to view a youtube video at the same time and that will not work either. If I do the same thing on a Mac with its brilliant core audio it all works. Hopefully, windows midi services will bring something similar to windows.Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 12:14 pmWell - I am not a MIDI hardware maven myself - and every single thing that I do now in Studio One - WITH MIDI works perfectly.dellboy wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 12:08 pmYes, you are probably right. For the audio issues, enable 'Release Audio Device in Background' within Studio One to use your audio device in another application when Studio One is minimized. The Kurzweil audio drivers likely don't have multi-client audio support.dellboy wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 12:37 pm I have just bought a Kurzweil K2700 keyboard and it has a built in usb audio interface and an editor app. Neither work under windows while running a daw, an essential need. This was always a dumb idea, in my opinion. This will result in people being on so many different versions, over time, that support and peer-to-peer help, will be much more difficult.Bowsy wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 9:33 am They stated there won't be an official version 8 under the new naming and update system. That doesn't rule out a version 8 ofc, they can't keep future updates on 7 indefinitely. It will run over at some stage, I'm guessing in 2-3 years from V7's release date. They focused on the new product name "Studio One Pro" rather than the version number. If things don't go to plan I wouldn't be surprised if they had a rethink and a rebrand come V8 just like they did with V7.
For example, I'm on v7 and you're on v6 and you want some help. That's no biggie, I remember v6.
However, if I'm on v7.8, you're on v8.2 and someone else is on v7.6, to me that is going to be much more confusing.

First of all, you need to understand that progress comes when it comes. It's not like they're suddenly holding back on development. But in the traditional release cycle, a developer builds up major new features until they reach a point where they can justify charging customers for a "new version." Some of those new features will have been held back for a good 2 years before you get them. So right off the bat you can see how this new system gets new features in your hands much sooner.
This is just blatantly untrue. Nothing was delivered "sooner." I have no idea what you are basing that on. I've been using since v3 and this is, far and away, the LEAST productive year for Studio One that I've seen. It's not even debatable. Heck, some versions completely refreshed the entire look of the DAW. This time we got romplers no one wanted and a Tuner that can now magically tune guitars too.
You also don't have skin in the game, so it's easy for you to make such remarks from the peanut gallery.
