ewww
this one is better
I love the part from min 43 and onwards - where Databroth turns the crackle from the wavetable "stars" into the sound of water <3 <3 <3

And the "star wars engine" sounds at min 56ff

yeah, i find your synths amazing for ambient, film and game scores, where you need unusual and interesting sounds that "normal" synths cant make

I've been playing with Kontrast for several hours now, and one of the first characteristics that I've noticed, is that this synth can generate some of the most exquisite, hybrid bells and plucks! They're really impressive. And they can morph into something else when you press down on the keys. It's a great example of how useful velocity is in synth patches.

The sequencer transforms Kontrast into a rhythmic instrument, that's capable of some pretty radical and transforming sounds. This single plug-in covers the aggressive end of the spectrum, as well as the atmospheric and serene. The onboard effects provide plenty of tone-shaping and professional shine.

It's a very unique synth to play, and programming new patches from scratch is extremely rewarding and fun, with extra emphasis on the fun part. The factory patches show off the instrument's versatility and sonic potential, and I had a lot of fun just tweaking those before designing my own. I'm admittedly biased, but I think that this new Dawesome synth genuinely lives up to the hype.

It's innovative and experimental, yet approachable and addictive. I highly recommend it. Much respect to Peter for the years that it took him to make Kontrast a reality. His Nonlinear Wavetable Synthesis has changed the game, and absolutely raised the bar for other developers. Thank you for not giving up, and a huge thank you for not following the pack!! 8)

Will be making a controller template for this for Bitwig and Komplete Kontrol over the weekend (good way to learn how it all fits together)
Bitwig template is done - just finalising the NKS version (collab with Vagus from NI forum)

One thing that is weird is there is a disparity between which params are mappable between hosts. For example in Komplete Kontrol I can map params like Filter on/off and filter type switches, but in Bitwig these do not even seem to be visible. In fact only things that are actually a knob seem mappable in Bitwig - nothing that is a button or selection. So the Bitwig remote control mapping is much less comprehensive than the NKS one

Another issue is if I want to browse by author, so go to the author bank via the side panel bank browser, when I click next preset using the arrows it loads a preset from a different author sub bank

Post

Presets open much slower via the browser than when I use the next/previous arrows to browse them. What's the reason for that?

Instabuy !

Just a question...
In the User Manual, it is written that a modulator (env or LFO, etc...) is able to modulate other(s) modulator(s).
I'm unable to do this. I don't be able to modulate, for example, a LFO by an other LFO.
What I'm doing wrong ?
Your advise will be welcome !

Post

Depends what you mean by modulate an LFO by an LFO - there is an amount dial with each modulator which can be modulated and every dial of an LFO can be modulated - click on the dial/parameter you wwant to modulate and then drag on the 'circle' associated with the LFO you want to modulate this LFO with...if that makes sense. Page 39 onwards explains the modulation system.

Thanks for your point of view, but...
if I modulate a synth parameter with a LFO, no problem. The parameter indicates what is the modulator source modulating it, and the modulator (by rignt-cliking it) indicates what parameter(s) it modulate. Ok.

If I do the same to try to modulate (for example) the LFO1 by the LFO2, draging the 'circle' associated to the LFO2 and putting it 'on' the LFO1, the modulation is not taken into account by any of both LFOs.
Same with the Env modulators.

I agree that the User Manual explains the modulation system, but it don't explain in a concret manner, how to do it.

So, for the moment, after trying and trying different ways, I'm still unable to modulate modulators...

Not sure where you want to go from a sound design point of view.
The track by Biiansu in the video is industrial - but this is NOT representative of the sonic range!
Kontrast covers a wide sonic range including sweet analog, classical wavetable, FM-like, physical modelling like and ... well, also industrial.
There will be more videos by other YTers showing Ambient, Analog etc in the next days
Thank you. I watched a couple of other demos like you said and it’s more versatile than I realised. I’m in. Nice work!

What exactly do you mean by modulating LFO 1 by LFO 2 - which parameter of LFO 1 are you trying to modulate?

Looks like they load slower anytime they are filtered by something in the browser

Ok, thank you for reporting -> will have a look into this!

Ok, ok...
Due to your last question, cb8rwh, I realize that I wanted to modulate the ""entire"" LFO, instead of to modulate one (or various) parameter(s) inside the ''destination'' LFO ! (mistake due to the usual practice of an ''user presets'' and not a ''preset maker/designer'' !
With this info, I've gone back to my plugin Kontrast (inside my Logic Pro DAW) and I've ''discovered'' (!) that I was able to modulate the BPM and/or the ''BAR'' parameter(s) of the ''destination'' LFO...

So...
Thanks to your comments, questions and time, I'm a little bit more... (...)... than previously...

cb8rwh,
again, thank you very much for your help and your time.

Have a nice week-end
Best regards.
