ChameleonMusic wrote: Sun Sep 07, 2025 4:56 pm Enjoyed the listen - very catchy!

Does the trumpet fit this song? Or does it dominate too much overall?
It's effective for me - not used too much at all (then again, I am a trumpet player) :)

Is the overall feeling okay – or is the song too loud and too compressed?
Didn't bother me at all (and I'm damned fussy about such things)!

Does the image animation fit the song? Or is the image animation rather distracting?
I listened at first without the video on screen (I always do with new songs). With
the video up...it seemed to fit the quirky mood for me.
Ah yeah: Thank you for listining and also answering.

The trumpet was a bit daring. We wanted to do something
with Christof, hence the trumpet line. Thanks!

seismic1 wrote: Sun Sep 07, 2025 9:26 pm This is one of your best songs, Andy. I also think it's one of your best mixes.

The trumpet is great. You could have used a synth, but I think the trumpet sounds more "at home" in this song, especially with the strummed guitar. The song sounds a little louder than my usual listening material, and certainly louder than my "ambient" stuff, but not uncomfortably so. I was listening at a reasonably high volume on my monitors ('cos the family were out), and it sounded good to me.

The video was fine, although I was paying more attention to the music. I was happy to see that you shut the gate.

Good work :)
Ahh, seismic1, thanks for your detailed feedback. :)

Yes, we had only met the trumpeter last year and decided
to do something together. This song came out of it – with
live trumpet. Of course, from a purely compositional
perspective, you could also play it with a synth.

Genetic_Junk wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 4:22 pm I really like the trumpet. Very nice melody. It supports the song well. The level and dynamics are good listening on headphones. I didn't listen on speakers yet.

I'm enjoying the lyrics. Note: the lyrics sheet uses the word "cover" in the first verse, but the word "travel" is sung in its place.

Thanks for the i to the power of i document. Nice explanation and some funny lines too! A great presentation overall: song, lyric sheet (with pictures!), i to the power of i document, and animation.

A question about the controls on the website: play/pause and stop all work. But the back button doesn't seem to do anything at least in the Edge browser (didn't test other browsers). What is back supposed to do?
Thank you, Genetic_junk, for listening so thoroughly and
carefully — and even looking at the lyrics and the "i to the
power of i" paper.

Sure, we made a small mistake in the lyrics, let's see.
We'll correct it.

Since the field is meant both physically with grasses and
flowers - and abstractly as a physical field (field theory),
a bit of mathematics fits, even if it is mysterious and slightly
disturbing - like something "i powered to i" -- yeah!

Regarding your question about the "Back" button: You're
right. If you access the page directly via the link, it actually
has no function at all. The button only has the "back" function
when you're on the website itself. That may be a bit
confusing, that's true.

In any case: Thank you for your detailed appreciation. :)

Catchy song with nice mix - not overly compressed to my ears. I like the trumpet and the vocal effects towards the end. How did you make the video? I enjoyed it but also enjoyed just the music without the video.

Jesse Gorter wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 8:57 pm 1. it fits, it sounds perfect. didn't stand out too much at all.

2. it is quite a bit compressed, but it feels kinda good. maybe a bit less compression could breathe more, but it seems to be the sound you go for here.

3. haha i didn't really catch my attention on it so much, i rather listened to the music in the background to be honest.

all in all, i like it!
Aaaah yeah, thanks Jessie! :D

The strength of the compression has always caused us
to vacillate. On a hi-fi system, very little compression sounds
much more airy and dynamic. On boom boxes and car
speakers, on the other hand, it only sounds reasonably
good if you compress sufficiently.

This seems to us to be the best compromise - but it is
more optimized for "mini speakers". 8)

Thank you for the review! I am a fan of Einstein (an amazing genius), and he was surprisingly funny. Your song is pleasant; I like it. The trumpet seemed appropriate to me; some of the notes were slightly too loud for me (since you asked). Per usual, your vocals remind me of Bowling For Soup (good). The melodies are nice. I thought the audio quality was good; I didn't think it was over over-compressed. Ending was somewhat abrupt. I thought the video was nice, even if some of the images were kind of random; though that's hardly unusual for a rock video. Nice song and video!
Thank you Aaron - also for answering our questions! :D

Frantz wrote: Mon Sep 22, 2025 2:25 am It seems like you are attempting to unlock the mysteries of the universe with music, math, and mysticism. I love the song and the ideas around it.

The trumpet is an excellent, fresh addition to this song. It could have been a touch louder with a bit more reverb to really highlight it but it worked very well as is.

The mix is just right and not too loud.

I decided not to look at the animations. I listened to the song several times, read the lyrics and started studying the i_power_to_i.pdf and started experiencing sensory overload. I might have to reboot my brain if I start looking at animations. :help:
Thanks, Frantz!

Yes, the mysteries of the universe—we live in this universe,
that's what's so beautiful and strange about it!

Tanja stumbled upon "I to the power of I" when she simply
wanted to look something up about complex numbers. We
found it so astonishing, so absurd, that it absolutely had to
be in the song. :)

I really like the song, and thing the trumpet is a great addition. In fact, I was wanting a little more of it :) Not in the sense of volume, but thought it would sound even better if it were double tracked, and then later in the song the second trumpet could add a harmony to the main theme.

Really well done overall

Thanks, PatchAdamz.

I hope all our songs are about cool tunes. But of course,
it's entirely up to the listener to judge that. Thanks! :)

Yeah, "the video" is indeed a combination of a javascript-
slide show in HTML, and GIF-images.

Our aim is to at least partially visualize and represent the
song's theme. This can sometimes be difficult with abstract
topics. Here, the field is the central focus, so what you see
is a field. The abstract part of the song is then also visually
abstract.

Thank you, Jeremy.

Hello folks,

normally, when we post the song here, it's already completely
finished - all arrangement and mix improvements have been
made.

Yet not quite: Today we have a new mix version that is
characterized by:

--- Better Flow
--- Greater transparency and audibility of the instruments
--- Ending changed

The updated links are in the initial post (see the very top).

Enjoy! :D
