It'll be muuuch better soon, but probably not for this OSC...

The recent update was already much better CPU-wise but if it will be much better that would be great ofc :)

Spend a good few hours with the beta 2 today. Damn, this thing is ridiculously powerful. Sounds amazing. Can do super digital full power intensity and washed out dreamy textures and gritty psychedelic squelchiness and is actually relatively easy to grasp. And it's one oscillator. 😎

I'm saving my pennies for Zebra 3 already. 😀

Yeah it's amazing - one of the best synths released in the last few years and it's just one osc, and free!

Is there a way to save MSEG presets? Can't find a way to do it. In the old one there was a preset button.

You can copy and paste curves from one instance to another, and the next beta will finally have module presets as well.

Can anyone give a proof of concept for the Guides in Zebralette 3? In which instances would it be a better choice than just using the Curve Set? I can't at this point see how much of a different impact it would have on a sound, but I'm eager to know if there are :)

When used in the OscFX, or as modifiers in the Additive Renderer they save CPU greatly because they can be pre-rendered. Using the Curve Set always involves an extra transformation step, which currently is the main cause of CPU usage.

So it's mainly because of CPU. Gotit!

Another question, if I may. When using the Additive renderer it was a bit surprising that when drawing in single harmonics by using the tool "Grid Move Y" onto the Harmonic Grid, you actually get both the harmonic you fill out and the neighboring harmonic with full volume. So if you only want the fundamental and the 2nd harmonic, for instance, by drawing it with the "Grid Move Y" tool from a flat line at the bottom, you actually get the fundamental, 1st, 2nd and 3rd harmonic and need to go to the Edit page to move the points at the top slightly to the left to remove the harmonics in between. Don't know if that made sense. In other synths you have the option to easily draw in the exact harmonic you want. Is there a good reason for designing it that way i Zebralette3 and I guess Zebra 3?

Yes. This approach is based on Curves. With them, one can do a million complex things quickly. Setting up lists of individual samples or harmonics is not one of them, even if some people have developed great skill and finesse in doing so.

Great! I’m all ready convinced this is the future of additive synthesis. Many thanks for your answers.

I wouldn't go that far. Additive Synthesis is also part of the Resampling thing, and that is something Zebra(lette) 3 is not really meant nor equipped to deliver upon.

Instead, Zebra offers a different approach to the field of Additive Synthesis which has its own strengths and drawbacks.

Currently found things:

I can't force UI to be 80%. Hard to work when every new instance opens to the full screen. found it, thank you!

Undo/Redo doesn't undo-redo the curves drag and drop operation.
Switching to Dark mode in the UI kills the undo history.

upd.: should've noted that this is Win 10 x64. CLAP, I think
