Sorry if I'm a total idiot but just got an email about final mix which:
"PC Tracktion users have already been polishing their creations with".
When, where what?

Do you have a Tracktion license? If so, install the latest "All examples" version.. the plug should appear in your "3rd party" folder.
If you don't have a license you might just be in time for the NFR offer (search the forum for a link that still works) but I'd run if I were you..

Try it, and form your own impressions.captainfatfingers wrote: Does that mean its poop!??!
I think it rocks!
Don't know why you hadn't heard though, it made a fairly big splash on this forum..

The reason is that the Mac version is new. The PC version came out months ago. I dont know if you were here when the PC version came out so you probably missed the hoopla.captainfatfingers wrote:Just am confused why I got an email about the mac version and there seems to be nothing about the pc version either via email or on the forums. Oh and its not poop. I like it a lot actually. Except for the soft limiter, it sounds terrible to me. But I just turn it off and put a limiter after it.

Its a soft clipper not a limiter.. its meant to shave off just the very loudest short transients.AD80 wrote: Except for the soft limiter, it sounds terrible to me.
If you want your mix to sound flat and irritating, and make your listeners turn their stereos down, you will need a proper limiter.

I was actually hoping to make my listeners run around in circles screaming insanely, followed shortly by having their heads explode! Alas, all Final Mix did was add some punch and definition. I'll keep trying, though.platinumears wrote:Its a soft clipper not a limiter.. its meant to shave off just the very loudest short transients.AD80 wrote: Except for the soft limiter, it sounds terrible to me.

Final Mix is great, as long as you're aware of the current little niggles--
1. Depending on the success of your install, it may or may not notice your factory settings. If not, you have to manually locate and load them each time or try re-installing.
2. When you re-load a project, the actual settings you've come up with will be intact; however, the -name- of the preset will mysteriously have changed to "Acuma CD Mastering" even though the settings are still your own (proper) settings.
