Just as a heads up I purchased three plugins from Audio Assault in the past and all three have been discontinued.

I contacted support asking about one of them and they said:

"Right now it is under updating, it will take some months to re-release it.
But, when we release the new version you will have access to it for free. We will notify you when it is ready",

That was a year and seven months ago in March of 2024 so.......

Audio Assault has always been like that, at least ime their more recent offerings actually work correctly and are pretty good imo. Not to mention they can typically be had for $5 or so.

In the end they still keep at it, for years and years, even if their banner has changed a few times heh...

Yeah they have already released some of the new versions of their discontinued plugins, so they do seem to be working on them.

I have a couple of them and think they're pretty good, but I have other similar plugins I like better. Like Headcrusher is pretty decent, but I never use it because there's no way to start with a dry signal and mix in the wet signal (the Mix knob is only for the distortion, having it at 0 still significantly colors the sound).

I like DoubleTrack though, and RM-2 is pretty nice as well.

I can understand the amount of vitriol you get on such a job can weigh on you. However, your job is still front facing sales/marketing so it doesn't really help you be outwardly negative. It will just set the tone for everyone else interacting with you.

That said I still don't fully blame him. He has a difficult task defending and supporting a company that has made some really lousy moves over the years.

But I'm generally not really a fan of sales representatives within non-corporate forums. They don't help with tech support, they often don't help with customer support, they will tell you they aren't sales, but then wont say what their job is. They just say login to the user account and submit a ticket. So it is really more a marketing/corporate presence job.

Drew @ UA is similar. Don't like the prices? submit feedback in the portal. Have an issue with your account? Submit feedback in the portal. Want to see something go on sale? Submit feedback in the portal. Want to see a new product released? Submit feedback in the portal. So why exactly are you here if you just tell us to submit feedback in the portal?
My last terrible experience was with Slate Digital support, when I asked about the fact that Trigger 2 only had one license. They seemed to follow a manual of answers, they didn't even seem human...

tbf, they use iLok and have probably gotten millions of questions about it.

Post

Yes! But someone smart in there could say, "Hey, let's release two licenses per plugin, like every other company, and we'll never get another email about it!"

I understand your rationale but I don’t think a single iLok company does that.

Post

Well, for me, I actually have a few ilok plugins, and the vast majority provide two licenses. Some, like Softube and UAD, provide up to three...

Oh yes, sorry, you're right. I wasn't thinking of multiple activations. Interestingly, all my more recent Steven Slate licenses allow 3 activations, while my recent Slate Digital (now owned by Audiotonix) plugins are a mix of 1 and 2 activations (presumably because the single activation ones were freebies):

Might be product specific - my Sl Drums 5 from 2020 is 3 activations / Sl Trigger 2 from 2022 also just 1 (which is a shame) - both Slate Media Tech

I notice there is no mention of a VST3, only VST. Is that right? And does anyone know if 3 (and CLAP) is in the works?

Wondering also about the Retro Mod collection as I'm not finding any specifications besides the general OS requirements...
