The Kontrol S mk3 series has fast banking and visual feedback on the LED for each endless encoder, so you could have as many controls mapped as you were willing to scroll. Control surface wise I'm OK with this, the visual feedback is everything, seeing a knob labeled Attack with the current position is what I want in a control surface.

I think you're misunderstanding, you "should" be able to bank parameters in Omnisphere with the Kontrol mk3? if not that's a huge bummer.

I'm totally going to sell my modular to buy this!

No I understand perfectly what the NI controllers do and what you want.

You seem unaware that you can setup Komplete Kontrol to do whatever you want using Edit Mode

You can follow the instructions here

https://www.native-instruments.com/ni-t ... zJZTCZlEDF

The beauty of the Hardware Integration in Omnisphere is that unlike proprietary systems it works with plain old MIDI CCs, the problem is that when you buy a controller with just 8 knobs/encoders you only get 8 controls by default

So you can either get another controller or take the time to program the controller you do have to do what you say is important to you

It seems they added effects from sonic extensions, but gave it other names.

I don't own Omnisphere, and you just sold me on not buying it.

There are now at least a half dozen DAWs that can reorder plugin parameter automation so that a control surface can bank to dozens of parameters that can use the same hardware knobs, faders and buttons etc. So it seems Ominsphere cannot do this and like you say is just using CC automation for it's controller support, and come to think of it that makes the most sense.

It would be nice if it could publish the parameter macros it has to the first 32 odd slots in a DAW, then it wouldn't matter in the case of the Kontrol S mk3 series, or other surfaces, but who knows if it does? I was under the impression that their control surface support would be plugin automation based but that's a different tree.

It's look very good for sure! Some features are simply amazing! The price of 199 is to bit higher IMHO for their customers. But it's a really great update of great product! I like the new FX rack. What's your thoughts about the quality of their Fxs BTW?

To make sure everyone receives their box by October 21, we will begin shipping soon. Please do not register until October 21.

For 200 you can get the highest end synths. If you already have them, then upgrade - my logic

It´s beyond me........it´s contraproductive to just about everybody, any side.
Potentially grabbing what they can before everything is full of free AI driven slop?
I'm guessing Spectrasonics' main market will be immune to that.

You seem to be confused

You are talking about DAW/Host Automation which is extremely robust with Omnisphere, as is MIDI Learn and can be configured to do whatever you want

The hardware integration with Midi Controllers is just a simplified version of 8-16 controls preset to work with the default CCs your controller puts out with the default factory settings. Those controls are knob per function but are limited by the amount of physical controls you have on your controller

It has nothing to do with either MIDI learn or DAW/Host Automation which is extremely robust and can be used in conjunction with hardware integration

You can simply buy pretty much any controller on the market, even cheap ones, or use the hardware synth or controller you already have and with zero effort use it to control some of the most important controls across tens of thousands of patches

Wow, such a mediocre update, and the GUI is still the worst among super synths. it really screams "I am the boomer synth" LOL

I am also wondering how the new version would interact with the Sonic Extensions, and how much of overlap would exist there on patches and devices. Also sent a mail to Spectrasonics with my question.

Same for Trilian and Keyscape content. Will it be integrated, new features? How about custom controls of the Sonic Extensions? The FAQ does not answer that.

If it would have more useful sampler (aka ableton or bitwig) for user content, it would be great.
