Awesome why you don't tell us which Synths you own where you use 100% of its sounds?

people will pay tens of thousands or more for a Steinway Grand that only plays one sound, people will pay hundreds of thousands for a violin that only makes one sound

Omnisphere has thousands of samples and presets you won't find elsewhere. All it takes is a single sound that is important to you to justify its costs
No one can use every sound a synthesiser makes.

A grand piano that costs tens of thousands is an instrument you can play unamplified in a concert hall, and that would last 100 years if maintained, and any violin at that price would be an antique more than higher quality than a good modern instrument. So that kinda irrelevant.

What exactly so you think Ominsphere has than you won't find in other synths. I know it's a good sounding synth, but it's also really just a rompler. Isn't the advantage, as much as anything, that the sounds come preprocessed?

So I'm not sure what any of your points are with this post you made..

Still, it had a great first few days before the inevitable tedious crap that at some point infects every KVR Omnisphere thread.

that's pretty off-topic tho, isn't it? minidust is a 'basic' synth with 250 presets.

Well, I more thought about how the presets are laid out on screen. Sorry for not being specific

omnisphere's competition would be falcon, NI, perhaps nexus 5 (there's a few others too). i've always avoided these 'do everything' plugins but may now dive into omnisphere...

Few synths use the number of sounds that it ships with as a major selling point. I think that's a bit of the point here. Spectra has been doing that forever and the community repeats it.

Now, that said, I'm know that I'm going to use all of the sounds when I get it. I mean, you don't really need to make that argument though, I was in at "blown ostrich egg" , OMG, I can hardly wait.

Does it still support the Sonic Expansions? If so do they have any benefits from the update?

It does support them, no mention of any specific updates in O3. I think the Hardware Integration will still control the Global controls under the hood, not the Extension front panel.

EDIT actually that last part doesn't make sense, I don't think the hardware integration will do anything (at launch anyway)

Key is to block all the dumb know it all narcissists who can't stop seeking attention.

Thread looks much better that way. Sadly, I wish KVR would stop showing quotes of blocked users. Then it would be perfect.

Just for me i think the upgrade price is a bit steep.
What would have made me more interested is either a new synthesis method or refinements in the existing types (in particular the granular). I saw a comment asking exactly what the new filters are emulating. I genuinely hope nothing at all. That would interest me quite a bit- is there much info about them?
The upgrades to make it sound more anallog don't really do much for me although i understand why other folks like it. More samples included is nice, but, i often add my own (and there's still plenty, plenty that i haven't used). Once again, i do like to trawl through the amazing sample library and make some far out patches with them. To be fair i think Omni is quite fine as is.
To answer BBFG#, i get plenty (90%?) use out the synthesis side of Omni and i couldn't qualify the use i get out of the sample side, which i always use to make different patches out of (often home grown) than i use the included presets (which i think are great, btw). Omnisphere has been worth every US$ .01 that i payed.
I clicked on this topic to read about what people who have the upgrade thought about it (and there are a few interesting observations). The pages of argument, invalid comparisons and such reminded me what forum i am reading.
