This would have been my pick too! A modern version of this type of interface, but capable of working with live audio as well as pre-loaded samples would be incredible.mcnelson wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 8:06 am Was always quite partial to using Liveslice; was super fun. Would love to see a contemporary version.

Here is my version. See if you can tell which is which. I don't really care much as it is a boring patch, but I thought... let me see what I can do with this. One is a bit louder, but that's all I can say.seafire wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 5:11 amAbsolutelyTouch The Universe wrote: Thu Oct 16, 2025 11:59 pm my point is that Dune 1 cannot replace Dune 3 and this is so obviously the truth - .

Thanks for your work - YES - THAT is QUITE the boring patch - one of the most boring patches i've ever heard, lol.Examigan wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 10:24 pmHere is my version. I definitely tweaked that patch beyond all recognization, lol but it was the starting patch which is why I remember it. Please refer to my original wave I uploaded - it sounds NOTHING like that. I'm never on my other computer where my stuff is installed - but examinagon efforts might have encouraged me. I'll try here shortly
I could literally recreate that sound in any subtractive freeware synth just about - so I can see the confusion. My point won't be clear until I clarify better examples.

Here are 3 patches - 2 Dune 1 Presets which highlight the uniqueness of it compared to Dune 3. I also included one of my out of dozens of attempts to get to that flanged bass patch I made from the stock. Close - sounds lovely - but not that elegant flavor of Dune 1.
Here is a video going over these and sound design comparison between the two.

Strongly agree. Is there any other plugin out there similar enough to replace it?
Surely there must be consensus by now...

My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Hypersonic for sure - all with you. Still, after all that time there's been so many attempts to this approach - all of them kinda failed. Paul (Kellett - the developer) is a genius.zvenx wrote: Fri Oct 10, 2025 3:33 pm I figure many would want Alchemy. Me.. Steinberg's Hypersonic.

I still use Hypersonic 2 via Jbridge (if not in Reaper). And i'm still astonished what i can accomplish with it at this tiny cpu usage.

Halion Sonic supposed to be the "successor" - but in my personal view they never achieved it. I assume mainly because Paul Kellett - the original developer (and his team behind it) had another way on the idea. Don't get me wrong - Halion (Sonic) is great on its own - but it's too different in many ways.Examigan wrote: Sun Oct 19, 2025 1:09 pmWas it similar to HALion Sonic?brok landers wrote: Sun Oct 19, 2025 12:50 pmHypersonic for sure - all with you. Hypersonic was sort of a workstation. Very restricted set of quality sounds which are designed to be used together. All-in-one solution. Low memory and processor footprint. Simpler than Halion Sonic.Examigan wrote: Sun Oct 19, 2025 1:09 pmWas it similar to HALion Sonic?brok landers wrote: Sun Oct 19, 2025 12:50 pmHypersonic for sure - all with you. Halion Sonic is similar but it is more like Halion player (Halion with restricted functionality and infinite libraries).
My impression.

Hypersonic 2 was fully editable (Hypersonic 1 wasn't). The only restriction to Hypersonic 2 was, that you sadly weren't able to load your own samples.lobanov wrote: Sun Oct 19, 2025 8:32 pmHypersonic was sort of a workstation.
