That's how it's worked for over a decade. If you need an additional download you can contact them, but obviously they are trying to minimize the number of 60GB downloads they serve, so yes, you should save the entire downloaded folder structure to an external drive for faster recovery.

The Omnisphere plugin itself can run 8. The stand alone plugin can run 4, but that's not really a limitation as if you need more than four you can just insert more than one instance in series

Good job I didn’t delete mine yet then. Phew!

Are you safe?

Now you say it, it does seem somewhat familiar. I always had my library structure duplicated anyway, for safety purposes and it was the thing that allowed me to keep using Omnisphere 1 for so long.

I guess if they're cool with supplying a new download for drive deaths etc. it wouldn't be an issue.

That's concerning!

Mutation is great, but is there any way to stop it from saving every single mutation automatically?

My patch list is turning into a genetic experiment gone wrong. Hundreds of slightly mutated presets piling up. I love the feature, but I’d rather decide what to keep instead of having Omnisphere hoard every offspring it creates.

I tried deleting them manually from the User folder, but the next time I opened Omni, they were still there. Anyone figured out a fix for that?

I can confirm the new Omnisphere 3 filters are indeed much much better. Having a go about with them on the Analogue Evolutions /Andromeda Observation :tu: check the Prophet 5 Raw Saw patch confirms they are beautiful and much better than the previous versions( In the Ambient Dreams library ) btw... This was my only concern, and they've destroyed any doubts I had, Congrats to Eric and the entire Spectrasonics team.

I've not scratched the surface yet, but can honestly say this is not only competing with hardware, but in many cases, leaving alot of hardware in the dust.
The best just got better ! Make sure you have a great set of Monitors and Conversion to enjoy the new sound quality guys.

dont have Omni3 yet but would interest me already as well. Also do you know when you Mutate a Patch, do only the Soundsources change or also Modulations and/or FX Settings?

Hmm. This looks great for sure! But in this way it's really annoying.. maybe try to ask Specrasonics about this thing? It's great future request BTW. Because you need to save only which you like. It's more logical

I found the following in their reference guide:

Organizing the Mutations Directory

After creating many mutations, you may want to remove the ones you won’t use or reorganize the Mutations directory. You can do that by navigating to:

STEAM / Omnisphere / Settings Library / Patches / Mutations.

Using the Mac Finder or Windows Explorer, you can delete, move, and rename patches. Then, use the Refresh for Omnisphere to display your changes.[/quote]

There’s a lock menu where you can choose which parameters to exclude from being mutated :tu:

It's easy if you find one(s) you like and want to save, just save it as a named preset the normal way

All of the mutations are saved automatically in a named "mutation" folder inside of your Steam Folder. Treat that like a temporary asset folder

I created a shortcut to that folder in my desktop. Then at the end of the session when I have saved the ones I wanted and closed out Omnisphere, I can easily go in and just delete the entirety of the contents of that folder. Just select all, right click, select delete and it's gone

I am sure Spectrasonics will eventually figure out a more elegant solution but this way works really well

Oh that's a surprise, I couldn't find that in the manual anywhere.

Had some serious troubles paying. Now I'm in a situation where a payment went through, but no email arrived with an upgrade code.

How long did you guys have to wait?

I haven't seen anything about that, but I doubt it's a feature they'll add. You can already do FM within the oscillator, and the modulator is a wavetable identical to the synth oscillator. That might technically 'only' be two-operator FM, but there's a lot of flexibility.

Yeah, there's already lots of flexibility. However, you can only use FM with an oscilator, not with a sample. Which is a pity, as it would allow you to use all the wonderful samples for use with FM or PM.
