1. The site stated 64G storage requirement... can someone confirm that?
2. I realize this will vary depending on many factors, but roughly how long did it take to download the entire package?
3. Aside from the one poster who mentioned payment issues, did anyone have any issues related to payment, download, license setup, or install?
1.)You will need around 120-130 GBs total for the installation process. First you need to download the installers that is half of that. Then the installers install the actual software

I took a new $15 128GB USB3 Flash Drive from Amazon and downloaded the installers to that, and then installed to my hard drive from that. On my actual HD it takes about 64GB. I then have a physical backup of the installers. I won't put anything else on that drive

2.)I started the download, went out to the Kitchen to eat lunch, came back in about a half hour and it was done. I have a Fiber Gig Speed Internet connection, connected via Ethernet directly to my PC if that matters. I was probably one of the first to download yesterday not sure if that mattered or not

3.)I didn't have any issues with payment it was smooth. I will say however that Amazon's AWS service was in the midst of a global outage yesterday that effected thousands of different systems and companies yesterday, it's very possible some of those transactions with issues were effected by that

You’re getting 35 world-class effects built right in and as standalone FX suite for no extra cost while Soundtoys wants $599 for 23 or u-he asks $199 for 10. Compared to Omni’s new effects, those bundles suddenly feel dated and overpriced. Like relics from a pre-Omnisphere era or legacy tools. Spectrasonics quietly rendered half the FX market obsolete :D
I have all of them. No there are not.

Absolutely, all afternoon as I have been messing around with it, I have been blown away by all of the new effects.

They all sound so amazingly good 👍

I'm not sure if this is different depending on your location... but for me, when I pay in a different currency, there is always an option somewhere on the payment page opposite or underneath where it says "Convert currency with PayPal", that lets you click a link that says "Change". Then you can choose to have your own card issuer set the conversion rate.

Thanks Ivy, I think I've talked myself into doing this. Hopefully it's not the GAS talking.

Has anyone “attempted” installation under Mojave?

Since the 'remastered' V1 and 2 presets are mixed into the new 18 banks, is there any way to filter the results to only show the actually new V3 presets ? I can't seem to figure out how to do this, which is a bummer (if not possible). Any synth touting thousands of "brand new" presets should offer a way to navigate to _just_ those presets.... hope I'm missing something.

My Omni V3 boxed was in fact a V2 + "contact the support" package deal ( with no such declaration as such)
So i have now that V2 USB stick. I´m not interested in the V2.
Shoul i install my V2 ? Or do i even *have" to install my V2 ?

The only info i have is: contact the tech support at spectrasonics for a free V3 upgrade ( provided: a specific email)

Just, this can be hundreds if not much more such "deals" that went out. Now all these folks contacting that support email.
Not sure if i should wait, even if it takes days, or just install V2 for now .....so agian: do i even HAVE to install my V2 ?
yes, the upgrade is completed from within the plug in :tu:
within same version number. But -much likely- not jumps to another version.

waiting now till the support has walked thru hundreds if not even thousands of same requests to hand out the V3 update code. (my boxed version was bought as a V3. got delivered a V2. Nobody would say a word. It´s old stock with a added sticker to the package )
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

Gotta say, one of the more unexpected surprises is how much I'm loving the new hardware integration. I have my OB-X8 sitting in front of me as my main synth/controller and it's amazing how well they've integrated it with Omni 3. Whenever I'm using software synths, I constantly find myself reaching for the OB-X8's cutoff or resonance knob out of habit, and now I don't even need to stop myself!

sounds amazing, as expected!
has anyone else been hearing volume deviations between patches? I feel like spectrasonics is usually super good about having all patches equally loud, but I hear a bunch of quiet ones like 'Diffused Tape Echoes' compared to 'Distant Solar Flares'

Downloaded, installed, authenticated in under 20 min. After not touching Omni in over 5 years it was like experiencing it for the first time. I got lost for about 2 hours just relearning the tool by sound designing a couple of patches. I don't remember the last version being this much fun???

Still hate the modulation system, but the Orb sort of replaces a good modulation assignment system with something fast to get going, though a little inflexible and unpredictable. Didn't really care for the Waveshaper section which doesn't sound as good as all the other various distortions, saturations, and resonances scattered throughout the system. Overall this synth distorts beautifully, almost in a musical way

Don't love the 4 unit limit (is this right or am I doing something wrong?) in a FX rack. I get that you can up the limit with the appropriate routing, but that's a pain. Also wish it had a real OTT with all the nastiness, because the multiband plays way too nice.

Really don't like the FX unit interfaces at all, which is a shame because they sound so good. IMO they should have leveraged the modern UI they implemented in various spots throughout, rather than sticking with the clunky, dated Soundtoys look. In fact the entire UI is a weird mix of modern plugin design meets Windows 95. I with they had just embraced the modern look throughout. Like my experience from 5 years ago, I'm constantly getting lost I all the tabs, forgetting where I am, not knowing how the get back to where I was, and not remembering where things are located. Also seemed a tad buggy and laggy in spots, but not enough to be unusable. The 'bugs' could have just been user error.

I wanted this as a rompler but ended up shocked at how much I like sound designing in it. I remember v2 sounding way more dated than v3. Overall I really like it. Despite all the flaws and annoyances, I think it was worth the upgrade. Nice work Spectrasonics!!

I have all of them. No there are not.
I agree - they are not obsolete. But it makes me wish that the Omni3 effects were available as separate plugins.

I think they must have reworked the whole internal signal path. It's much easier to make the signal saturate than before. The filters bite much tighter and sits perfectly. I've never been a big fan of Oberheim filters (no hater just not a fan), but I've become completely obsessed with them in v3. And that you have filter drive now is just fantastic.

Complaining about v3 is like saying the Ferrari isn't red enough, but I do wish for some more depth / expansion of the granular engine. Or maybe something like the Spectral engine in Serum 2.

With all this Omnisphere 3 talk I almost succumbed to GAS and bought the update outright, even though I can't afford it right this minute.

So instead I decided to create a preset from scratch in good old v2. Here's the result after about 20 minutes of tinkering.

Spacebound Pad bM (Google Drive, 5.9mb mp3)

Preset can be downloaded here:

Space Bound bM (Google Drive, 7k ZIP)

NOTE: This preset uses the Kverb effect which requires Keyscape to be installed. No idea how the preset will open with an Omnisphere install without keyscape. Best case scenario is that it loads just fine but with that particular effect disabled. Should sound good without it.. just a bit less spacious and no shimmer trails.

just had a quick test and will play more later, i need to compare the GUI of Omni 2 vs 3 but i find you have to click more now? you dont see the part overview asap which i love in omni 2 to adjust the settings.

also the search is kinda more cumbersome? it should always show ALL if you want and not have you always select a category.

also the MUTATIONS function is heavily barebones :( i expected a lot more, so far from my quick play it ONLY changes and adds different soundsources... no mutation of the FX Settings, etc. even if it doesnt change the fx chain and/or synth option it could be a bit more mutationwise/ like changing the ADSR, or Granular settings etc. this is heavily barebones and very disappointing in my opinion atm. maybe nice to just get new ideas with changing the soundsources, but with EXTREME mode i expected above changes and variation.
