How is it OT though? Many of the FX in Omnisphere 3 are licensed from Overloud. That's not a secret. It looks like the LA-2A may be one of those (Fairchild too). So if the OP wants to know how the LA-2A in Omnisphere's FX Rack compares to UA's, checking out the demo of the Overloud is a way to do it.

Spectrasonics name about 8 partners in the manual that they worked with on the effects. It's a huge leap to assume that the Overloud LA-2A is the same as now in Omni (unless there's a source citing this I don't know about).Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:21 pm How is it OT though? 1) Existing projects should sound identicalexit-eternity wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:22 pm Does omni 3 sound good? Better then omni 2?or is same patch load on each sound exactly same. Or is it sound more good.
2) Some old patches have been refreshed with new FX (and possibly filters?) Both old and new versions are available in Omni 3.
3) There are new synthesis options, new filters and new effects that have all be widely praised for their sonics.

Spectrasonics has always called patches sounds however. Omnisphere isn't really intended to play back samples in a realistic way. While it can it's not intended to be a Kontact alternative where you have hundreds and hundreds of cello samples or hundreds of tuba samples.pokorny.dean wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 9:10 am After spending some time checking the details on Omnisphere 3, I’m starting to feel that the upgrade might be marketed a bit more aggressively than the raw content justifies.
From what I can tell, Omnisphere 2 had around 5,439 soundsources, while Omnisphere 3 lists about 5,590 — so that’s roughly 151 new raw samples, or about a 2.7% increase. Yet the marketing heavily leans on “thousands and thousands of new sounds.”
Now, if we’re talking patches (which combine layers, effects, and modulation setups), sure, there are tons of new ones
It's strength is to transform samples into something else. It's strength lies in taking a Cello sample and transforming them into something else as a result it only has a handful of cello samples which is all you need to use the synth as it's intended
Analog Synths often have 5 or less waveforms do you also complain because many analog style synth plugins often ship with hundreds of presets but underneath them it's just the same 5 waveforms? Because that's your argument here.
The upgrade from Omnisphere 2 to Omnisphere 3 wasn't marketed as a vast expansion of samples in the sample library, it was marketed as having a bunch of new sounds which it most certainly has, it was marketed as having a bunch of new filters which is most certainly has (and they sound awesome) it was marketed as have global controls, MPE Support, new effects, a new stand alone effects plugin, new Wavetables, enhanced VA engine, mutator function etc
They used all of those things to make thousands of new presets and even the reworked legacy patches are new and sound great
Personally I couldn't be more happy that they focused on expanding the actual synth engine and enhanced it greatly
If you are upgrading from version 2, $199 seems like a really good deal considering all you are getting
If you are a new buyer well all of the samples are new to you on top of getting everything else
At the end of the day Omnisphere 3 ships with more samples and more presets than anything else

I don't think it's a HUGE leap. I'm 99% sure the Fairchild is. Why? it's got the 3 versions that correspond to different locales, just like the Overloud. If the OP said, "how does the Fairchild hold up to UA", I'd definitely say comparing to Overloud is going to be a safe bet. The API EQ in Omni also feels and looks like the Overloud API EQ, even down to the harmonics LED that lights up as it's pushed. I'd be confident that one's licensed from them too.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:25 pmSpectrasonics name about 8 partners in the manual that they worked with on the effects. I'm less confident on the LA-2A but I never used the Overloud one. Maybe someone who has recognizes aspects of it from Overloud.

Omni 3 sounds awesome, the improvements over 2 are amazingexit-eternity wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:22 pm Does omni 3 sound good? Better then omni 2?or is same patch load on each sound exactly same. Or is it sound more good.
Don't let the same butt hurt posters who have now posted dozens of times about being outraged over the same issues, which mainly comes down to
A.)not understanding how Omnisphere works where a single sample came be turned on multiple presets entirely different from each other and instead just focus on raw sample types
And
B.)not understanding how the new tag and attribute system works and don't want to actually learn it so they post over and over and over again about their outrage over it

The LA-2A in Omnisphere is the same as Overloud Comp LA?

If you roll back to 2 will you stop posting over and over and over again how you personally don't like the new browser which most people find to be awesome?noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 11:41 amI know! Okay. Back on topic, open question. Omni 3 has tons of great new features. But for me personally the issue of the impossibility of browsing multiple locations effectively - which I've spent the last many years doing - is such an important workflow killer that I'm actually considering rolling back to Omni 2 until they sort it out.
Anyone else feeling anything remotely similar?
Asking for a friend because we need a few more dozens of posts about it from the same people on here every single day

Omnisphere 3 looks attractive to me for analog coverage, other than price (yipes!). Recorded analog oscillators just sound better to my ears than modeled. Is there any synth that competes with Omnisphere 3 in way of inclusion of wavetables of many analog oscillators, drift, and relevant filters?

Wouldnt it be awesome if Native Instruments created an Omnisphere-like platform for Kontakt Libraries, this is really what Kontakt should be. Or perhaps Native Instruments buy Spectrasonics and incorporate NKI. That could go badly wrong I realize, but still I dream

They have Reaktor that they are letting rot on the vine, so they definitely have the means, maybe other than the sound design of patches.jobinho wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:45 pm Wouldnt it be awesome if Native Instruments created an Omnisphere-like platform for Kontakt Libraries, this is really what Kontakt should be. Apart from the many posts I make about all the other things in Omni which you completely ignore, it's a fair point.IvyBirds wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:40 pmIf you roll back to 2 will you stop posting over and over and over again how you personally don't like the new browser which most people find to be awesome?
