I didn't ignore anything, just pointing out that we all get it, you don't like the new browser system you have now told us dozens of times and continue to do sonoiseboyuk wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:50 pmApart from the many posts I make about all the other things in Omni which you completely ignore, it's a fair point.IvyBirds wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:40 pmIf you roll back to 2 will you stop posting over and over and over again how you personally don't like the new browser which most people find to be awesome?
Asking for a friend because we need a few more dozens of posts about it from the same people on here every single day
If it bothers no-one else and it's just me, it's just me.

In Omni 3, they licensed new FX from other companies. Overloud is listed as one of them. Like the Fairchild emulation is almost certainly the Overloud one. The API EQ is almost certainly the Overloud one. There are clues that I think make this obvious.JasonSpatola wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 12:40 pm The LA-2A in Omnisphere is the same as Overloud Comp LA?
This conversation started because someone else flagged the LA-2A as being the Overloud one too, which I'm a little less certain because I never used the Overloud one. But it's certainly plausible to likely.

Overloud La-2A seems to be nice, but it's not the best La-2A emulation IMHO

...on the other hand, when reflecting on my original opinion, I do get the appeal. Eric Presing is originally from the old Roland ROMpler days, where a handful of really small samples were turned in to hunderets of (judging by optics of those times) amazing presets. Some of them are saught after untill today. While making Omni 3, they pretty much had their sounddesigners just play with the original library, while occasionally recording something new. It still ends up in thousands of new patches.
...having said that, I would still prefer to know which patches are from Omni 2 and which were newly added. Even if they use the old soundsources. One problems winth ROMpler-ish synths is that the most popular patches are everywhere (I'm looking at you, In Memorium 1-3). It would be cool to know that the one you've just loaded is actually fresh.

Honestly does it matter? If you want the best LA-2A emulation I would assume you already own one there are many options to choose from, and no one is buying Omnisphere 3 for its collection of compressorsAlexander_D wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 1:18 pm Overloud La-2A seems to be nice, but it's not the best La-2A emulation IMHO
Instead what Spectrasonics gave us in Omnisphere 3 is a collection of really good vintage inspired compressors that you you can use in your own sound design activities
So if you want to include a software emulation of a tube based optical compressor from the 1960s it's now an option in Omnisphere 3 and it sounds pretty good and does what you would it expect it to do

Oh yeah. It's a small detail, but these AI thumbnails are bothering the hell out of me.

Yeah, putting a slop cover on your thing seems like a really bad idea. This is right from their website. I have no interest in this at all, now. Who's to know what other corners they've cut?

They seem to have feature parity. Cool!Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 1:11 pmIn Omni 3, they licensed new FX from other companies. Overloud is listed as one of them. How do you like its FX compared to those in Serum 2?

The effects in Serum 2 are pretty good especially the new ones, the ones in Omnisphere are also pretty good especially the new ones
Which ones are better than the others comes down to personal tastes
With Omnisphere 3, Spectrasonics has put together a collection of really good effects that work really well with Synths and sound awesome and you can use it with other synths

It's from the synth itself.tumface wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 2:24 pm Yeah, putting a slop cover on your thing seems like a really bad idea. This is right from their website. I have no interest in this at all, now. Who's to know what other corners they've cut?![]()

Yeah, the same image is used in both places. I saw it in a video demo and noticed the slop immediately. Then went to the site and saw it in even higher res

I wish they change the illustrations. That hyperbolic marketing combined with the AI pictures are not giving a very nice impression. Which is a shame, the synth still sounds awesome.

Well really it’s not THAT big an update, when you observe it objectively, how much further has Omnisphere evolved from v2.5 — Not a great deal and many of the user interface / experience issues, such as not being able to delete the mutations inside the UI, the browser issues, archaic 2010’s modulation system, disjointed mix of flat, starship panel and skeuomorphic interface design. More could’ve been done to push it forward and provide a more polished experience.tumface wrote: Fri Oct 24, 2025 2:24 pm Yeah, putting a slop cover on your thing seems like a really bad idea. I say this as an Omnisphere and Keyscape owner of 10 years and I’m sure many here will disagree — and maybe I’m wrong — I’ve not used it, but it’s my impression. It’s still a wonderful instrument nonetheless, but compared to something like Serum 1 and 2 it feels like a lesser jump in performance. (Apples and oranges I know)
