some (user) errors? - don't know, but they bother me quite a lot
in an audio sequence the name of the sample is not (directly) readable (if you have a long(er) sample) - you have to hover above it - can this field accommodate to length of filename/samplename?
if you drag a sample into lane 2 it is not sliced (automaticly anymore - i remember this used to be different?) ; you have to drag your sample into a new (audio sequence) track and then you can use it as a sliced sequence/sample in lane 2 (from the browser - strangely enough)
it is very very difficult to select individual slices for now - after a while (when there's other lanes?) it works in lane 1, but not in lane 2 ; when i select a slice, i always end up with the whole sample/sequence

What's your screen resolution?

Interesting idea.

Please share a screen video of what you mean.

Post

screen resolution = 4k ; 3840 x 2160
(note: the videos are 1080p)

i just knew you were gonna ask me a vid

here it is

first to show that the file name is not really (totally) readable:
-unless you hover over it
20251026124236.gif
then an audio sequence with 2 lanes where you select individual slices on the first lane, but not on next lanes (remark the 1 / only note-on event for the second lane)
20251026124529.gif
next an audio sequence with 1 lane where i drag a (new) sample in to lane 2 ; it is not sliced (automaticly)
20251026125256.gif
lastly, a video where i drag another/new sample on a new track, choose audio sequence and then i'm able to drag that same sample on the previous/original audio sequence to show up as sliced sequence (sorry, the browser window dropped)

why we don't have an up/down back&forth (folder) button in the browser ?

strangely, you see 1 folder repeated 3 times when it is clearly not nested that deep (subfolder Tvoice only 1 time )

Ok, thx for that info.
The sample fields are not adapting to wider screens yet.
Maybe in a future version.

Looking at the video it looks like the sample event in the second lane has not yet been sliced, hence it's a single event, hence when you click it, the whole event is selected.
You can slice sample events via right-click -> "Split Using Markers".
next an audio sequence with 1 lane where i drag a (new) sample in to lane 2 ; it is not sliced (automaticly)
That's an interesting idea.

Note that this newly dropped sample is not sliced yet.
You see fine vertical lines that represent the markers in that sample, but the sample event is not yet sliced to these markers. You can do so via right-click -> Split Using Markers.
That's how it works now.
But i understand you're (implicitly) requesting further improvements.
Thx.

ok - user error, thanks

you have to hover over the sample and press 's' (with your cursor at the right spot) to have a slice where you want/need - and repeat/repeat/repeat until your whole loop is sliced

-why is there no exec/import function in the browser to accommodate/do (for) this?

so i'm inserting a new (non-sliced) sample on lane 2 and with right-click choosing split using marker (or split markered, split at nearest marker don't work either)

-maybe better rename split 'S': set marker then
2025-10-26 15_46_23-MuLab App _ FBF_A.jpg

i feel there's a difference between automatic sliced loops (in lane 1) and loops i sliced manually using set S and then split using markers:
in the first method, when i drag a slice (e.g.) to the right, the lefty slice gets stretched too, to have/keep 1 continuous sample
in the second method/lane, when i drag (e.g.) a slice to the right, the lefty sample keeps it position & length, so i end up with gaps/silence in between slices

-all i want to do is have several lanes of audio/samples to line up more or less the same while at the same time have some lanes to have different keys/pitches and consequently different stretch percentages (obviously)

Can't repeat this.
The screenshot of your file explorer is insufficient to prove that there is no TVoice subfolder in the TVoice folder. Please double-check your file system. If you are sure there is something odd then when you see the triple TVoice folders again go to MuLab menu -> Tools -> Copy Log and paste it into an email.

As mentioned there also is "Split Using Markers" which does this in a single action. That's assumed the sample already has markers at the relevant (transient) points.
so i'm inserting a new (non-sliced) sample on lane 2 and with right-click...
If you split a lot, which is quite normal, i'd recommend using key shortcuts, that's much much faster than using the context menu all the time.
Note that you can assign key shortcuts as you want:
https://www.mutools.com/info/M10/docs/m ... tcuts.html
split markered, split at nearest marker don't work either
I double-checked "Split Markered" and it works as expected here. Why do you think it doesn't work?
FYI: Split Markered is splitting and also creating a new marker at the same time. The split point points to the marker so if you update the marker the sample event follows.
That's essentially different from a split point that uses an absolute sample index position.
See this doc page, the section "Audio Positions"
https://www.mutools.com/info/M10/docs/m ... mples.html

Both an audio position referencing a marker and an audio position indicating an absolute sample index are interesting creative methods. It depends on the situation which one you want. You can also convert between them, eg. "Detach From Marker" converts a marker based position into an absolute index.
i feel there's a difference between automatic sliced loops (in lane 1) and loops i sliced manually using set S and then split using markers:
in the first method, when i drag a slice (e.g.) to the right, the lefty slice gets stretched too, to have/keep 1 continuous sample
in the second method/lane, when i drag (e.g.) a slice to the right, the lefty sample keeps it position & length, so i end up with gaps/silence in between slices
When 2 slices are adjacent ie. the end of slice 1 and the start of slice 2 are on the very same time then moving that split point will update both the end of slice 1 and start of slice 2.
Exception to this is when only one of them is selected, then the operation will only work on the touched event.
Cfr https://www.mutools.com/info/M10/docs/m ... ences.html
-all i want to do is have several lanes of audio/samples to line up more or less the same while at the same time have some lanes to have different keys/pitches and consequently different stretch percentages (obviously)
You'll get there.
If any questions left, just ask.

NB: Dropping a sample into the Audio Sequence editor does not yet auto slice it.
That's an interesting idea which has been added to the wishlist.

thanks, it is beginning to make sense now

In addition to the MuLab problems I sent via email (e.g., the current problem: "Sync start problem during recording"), I'd like to add a simple "request for possible correction":

For a long time now, you've had to manually change (activate) MuLab's access permissions on newer Mac operating systems (after "High Sierra").

Actually, this currently only affects MuLab (at least compared to the 16 DAWs I can test here).

It affects access to the "Documents" folder. (See photo)

This setting is important because, for example, some plug-ins cannot otherwise be used in MuLab (activation is not recognized).

It would be great if MuLab, like other programs, would take this into account during installation.

I've had the experience again today that some users are unaware of this problem and then naturally ask the plug-in developers, thinking a problem with the plug-in.

When adding a new sample to a new lane, the same New Audio Sequence Clip popup with Transient Marker and/or Auto Snap Length could appear.

he ?

i never get that popup (with transient marker etc etc) when adding a new sample
when i drop a sample on a new track, i only get the popup/question if i want a (new) audio sequence, audio stream etc etc

(basically i want to have it sliced automatically - just as in the first lane - )

What pop up do you get after you choose a (new) audio sequence?

Whether you get a question upon importing a sample as audio sequence depends on the preferences "Auto Create Transient Markers" and "Auto Snap New Audio Sequence Length".
See MuLab menu -> Preferences -> Audio
