UA and Softube only asked me for the iLok username, they never asked for my iLok password or anything else to deposit licenses...

You're right, the process was different than with Softube and UA - maybe different levels of how their license management is setup - I can't say. I was forwarded to ilok.com to login and give access, hence never gave my password to Antelope. Maybe your process was different.

From iLok:

The software vendor will be able to:
Manage your licenses for you (activate or deactivate) within their application.
Support license management of other participating publishers' software.

The software vendor will not be able to:
See, store, or change your password.
Edit your account in any way.
Change your licenses without your permission.

They don't ask for ilok password. They ask for the same rights as Softube, UAD, Slate, AVID etc. The only difference, they warn users about it. Thus scaring them away)).
It took me two days of emailing to support to get the promised plugin though. But that's another story.

Do they still use codemeter?

Took a little bit of searching, but I did find they still use code meter. And it creates issues on my system as well as removing it did. (Not a clean uninstall.) Shame really as I'm in their target market otherwise.

Good to know! Codemeter has caused issues for me as well. Guess it's a NOPE then.

That's where I stopped the process. Under absolutely no circumstances will I give a third party permission to deactivate my licenses. What the actual .... ?!

To try Strymon's reverb plugin (demo license), the password for the ilok account needed to be handed over to the installer if I recall correctly. Of course I didn't do that. The password could be transmitted without encryption or flawed encryption, could be saved in some data base.
I would only consider doing that and then change the password 2 minutes later on the official ilok website.
Obviously, ilok software is not the most interesting thing for hackers. But be that as it may, the complete lack of concern for the security of customers' purchased licenses is just disrespectful.
