Oh geez, if there was a dispensary next door to Perfect Circuit, I'd really be in trouble!
It's a neat spot. Their employees are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Lots of stuff on display and hooked up to be played with. When I go at lunch time there are rarely people there and I can just jam away for a while.
After 5pm or so it gets packed and my social anxiety kicks in. I've opened the door, seen more than 10 people inside and walked right back out, lol!

B&H is hectic. One of the attractions is the conveyer belt system above with orders making their way to check out, but it's noisy. Then its a small area for music gear, with a small back room for speakers. At times, lots of people in and out. The bigger areas are for camera equipment and consumer grade electronics.McLilith wrote: Fri Oct 31, 2025 8:46 pmI'd love to live next door to some place like Sweetwater, Perfect Circuit, B&H Photo, etc.Shabdahbriah wrote: Fri Oct 31, 2025 8:08 pm ^^^ 'Perfect Circuit' (large shop) is not that far from him (IIRC).![]()

Living an easy train ride from Ochanomizu is brutal on the wallet, especially for guitar and bass.elxsound wrote: Fri Oct 31, 2025 10:34 pmB&H is hectic. In the last couple months, I bought a lot of used Yamaha electronic drum stuff.
Not a full set, but have been piecing odds and ends together.
So far, just a bit over $1k into it, but it's set up like I want it.

Norcal recently got a Micro Center. Not close enough for lunchtime drop in, but close enough for a day trip to pick up important, and yes, very VERY needed, computer components. I SAID I NEED THEM OK! The word is NEED, stop giving me that look.
Sadly nothing like Perfect Circuit nearby. We have/(had?) some modular shops in the "region", but, the idea that I NEED modular gear is a bit rich, even for me.

Got my CVz, and of course it's good.
...and now I'm thinking about multitap delays with multiple outputs, to go along with this whole theme. I used to want the Sputnik 4-tap, but it's big and probably not the best of options overall.
Xaoc Sarajevo seems sounds gorgeous and 3 taps is nice...
But while Veno-Echo is dual rather than multitap, it is cleverly designed, extremely versatile, has a different enough feature set from Mimeophon to more than justify it, and also sounds flipping awesome. Divkid's video may have sold me on it.
But, Multimod itself can act as a multitap delay and I'm playing with that a bit first.

Sarajewo is mostly about panning the taps, the filter disappointed me and that’s why I’m selling mine. The unperson has a nice effects rack video I watched over the weekend.foosnark wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 2:18 am Got my CVz, and of course it's good.

I've been kind of reconsidering the delay thoughts today anyway. I'm not sure a relatively straightforward delay is all that exciting with this "split and merge" patching -- it's just overcomplicated ping-pong. It's better with filters or pitch shifting/pitch differences.Constructed Identity wrote: Mon Nov 03, 2025 10:32 pm Sarajewo is mostly about panning the taps, the filter disappointed me and that’s why I’m selling mine. And that got me thinking about getting a Three Sisters again.
But I also recalled seeing that Tom Erbe is working on a new, non-NUSS thing for Make Noise, so maybe I should just sit tight and see what that is...

Well, it all depends on how important having total control is. I like Echo Cinematic more, but no panning taps, it’s a great delay+reverb in a totally different way than Desmodus Versio. I’ll likely never part with that one.
