Mapping Presswerk parameters to a midi controller

Dear u-he team,

Recently, I’ve run into a practical issue when trying to integrate it with my MIDI controller (Panorama CS12), which I hope you might consider addressing in a future update.

In the main Normal view of Presswerk, key parameters like Threshold, Ratio, etc., are separated into Left and Right controls —each represented as two individual parameters (e.g., Threshold 1 and Threshold 2). While this offers deep control, it makes MIDI mapping quite inconvenient. For instance, I have to assign two knobs to control the threshold for each channel, and adjusting them simultaneously becomes inconvenient.

A feature or toggle to link the Left and Right parameters—so they could be treated as a single unified control—would greatly improve the user experience, especially for those of us working with external controllers. As it stands, the separation of channels, though conceptually powerful, becomes frustrating in practical use without a mouse or a trackpad.

Interestingly, this isn’t an issue in Presswerk’s Easy Compressor, Vocal, and similar alternative views, where the parameters are already unified and much more straightforward to map. But in the main view—where more detailed control is desirable—this setup turns into a usability challenge.

I realize part of the solution could also lie with the teams at Nektar and Cubase (regarding Quick Controls), as it would be incredibly helpful if two parameters could be mapped to a single knob. But ultimately, if Presswerk itself provided a way to toggle or optionally link stereo controls, that would be a game-changer.

Thanks again for the great plugin, and I hope this feedback is helpful.

Best regards, Alex

Thank you.

We know about the issue, but unfortunately there is no quick fix for it. We have to add another mode or something to accomplish this, which requires resources we do not currently have. We might be able to look into this after Zebra 3 is finished.

Urs, thank you for the reply! Looking forward to the possible solution in the future. Big fan of your company and products.

If you are using Presswerk's MIDI mapping feature, you can assign the same control to multiple parameters.
For linked controls, this is even done automatically, so that for instance, if you assign a MIDI CC to the Threshold parameter via MIDI learn, it creates two assignments, one for each channel.

Thank you. I will try that as an intermediary solution.

You could also consider using GigPerformer as VST host, which allows super flexible handling of hardware controllers for any plugins.
