I see no problem in extending the parameter range from 3 static values to a full range. That was likely done on the original to save on some parts, I'd suspect. Keyboard hold is not a problem when sustain pedal exists.

There IS an option for 48 voices of polyphony. Scroll down that Polyphony menu.

I know there are 48 voices. I said there aren't 49 voices so it can't decide whether it's trying to emulate the original, the reissue or both. I'd love options for full and accurate emulation of both, which will hopefully be included in a future update which should be easy enough as they've done the hard work in making it sound stunning.

Have to say in 45 years of music production I don't think I have ever maxed out 48 voices of polyphony and then said "golly gee willikers if I had just one more voice so I could play 49 voices that would be swell"

But here is the cool thing, if you need more than 48 voices since you are using a plugin you can just load another instance and get 48 more with a simple MIDI Split

Post

Yeah I don't think it makes sense to add a 49 voice option. It's fine.

The PS-3300 reissue released this year has a more standard ADSR envelope, but the original had three options - damped/half-damped/release - on the release stage. The plugin only models the reissue's envelope.
This seems like a misunderstanding. First, the PS-3300 envelope is quite different from a "standard ADSR envelope." Here's what I wrote for the info on korg.com:

Modeled Envelopes

The PS-3300 envelopes have an unusual circuit design, resulting in a number of distinctive behaviors. The attack segment is essentially linear, enabling both very sharp attacks and uncommonly gradual fade-ins. Decay and sustain interact; if you lower sustain, decay is modified to keep the time roughly similar. Release, on the other hand, stays constant, so higher sustain results in longer release times. Finally, even with maximum sustain, the envelope still decays over time.

All of the above applies to the original, the reissue, and the plug-in. The original PS-3200, a follow-up to the PS-3300, replaced the PS-3300's release switch with a continuous knob, presumably in response to feedback that continuously controlled release would be preferable to a three-way switch. The release circuitry itself is otherwise the same, I believe. Both the reissue PS-3300 and the software offer that continuous control.

Secondly, of course, the plug-in includes not only the unusual PS-3300 envelope, but also a model of a standard analog ADSR envelope. Compare the two; they are quite different!

@danatkorg

Slightly off topic: there seems to be a problem with Opsix Native in Cubase. On my system the CPU meter goes sporadically up to 75% for no good reason.

For example if will try to self.modulate frequency (route as at picture) the result will be barely audible, almost none. Despite Ext Intensity knob even set at max. Curiously if the same behavior will be in original (?).

I'm judging by compare with VCV similar patch, by routing the saw wave VCO audio output to his freq mod input. This given drastically mangling result (especially by using high base freq). Whereas here in 3300 almost nothing.

Maybe it's because different input voltages, idk.
The output of a single voice is very low in comparison to other modulation signals (such as the MGs). If you play a bunch of voices, the level is higher of course. And yes, this is exactly like the hardware!

Support sorted out my upgrade problem - the needed coupon was available in my id.korg account. I'm loving the PS-3300. Great companion to the wonderful 2600 plugin! I have to say part of my purchase decision for both of these plugins was the beautiful GUIs. Thank you for making it realistic but FLAT perspective - the only thing that really makes sense on a computer screen IMO. And they sound as beautiful as they look.

The PS-3300 is indeed awesome. I like how odd it is compared to typical synths today. Puts me in a different mindset when making sounds with it. Sounds great, too.

19% eating in default idle state (init preset), or 27% with single pressed note (even with poly 1, and it's still only single saw wave). Can't figure what going on lol.
The 36 top-octave oscillators and the octave dividers are always running. Note also that pressing three more notes after that first one shouldn't make much of a difference.

Else thing, the LFO's (Mod Generators) freq knob seems has no impact after 9.2 value. Curiously if that by design.
Upd2 ok Seems this is some handle' reserve for sync tempo mode for max division.
It's by design; see "Dead zones" on page 15 of the manual.

c_voltage wrote: Sun Nov 02, 2025 4:13 am Sorry, for who already familiar with PS3300 structure - i'm wondering about main "Signal Out" output (in upper right corner, inside each of three synths sections) - is this not able to be "instant generate" ? And so that really by design (as in original) ?

For clarify (what i mean) - LFO output is instant here, ie if we connect it to master signal mixer (EXT Input 1, in right side) - we get audio signal instantly, with no keyboard.

The same for oscillators outputs in Arp2600 (for example) - each can be connect to master mixer and sound will be instant.

But in PS3300 it seems this (osc output) works driven by keyboard\envelope only ? Or there is some trick. Just a bit boring if not.

User manual says about this output not a much (the same as tip info built in UI):
SIGNAL OUT
This is the polyphonic audio output of the PSU-3301 synth panel.
But it is unclear whether it is permanent (or Can be, somehow) or only runs from envelope.
The PSU-3301 has one voice for each key on the keyboard, each controlled by their respective envelopes. The output of the synth panel is the summed output of all of those voices.

This is all fundamentally different from the ARP 2600 plug-in; that's a mono synth that we magically make polyphonic in software, essentially creating a separate 2600 for each voice.

The hardware PS-3300 is a polyphonic synth, using normal TS patch cables on the panel; those cables can't carry separate signals for each voice. Patching on the PS-3300 is almost exclusively used for modulation signals, as opposed to audio routing. It's definitely a different way of looking at things, in comparison to "normal" modular synths.

Yeah!

Pretty much the only reason I am not buying Korg Collection is the GUIs. They're just...eh...

Why wouldn't they take them (even if only partly) to the 2025 standards is beyond me.

Edit: also, waiting for the Z1. I'd buy Wavestation in a sec if I didn't dislike the GUI/workflow so much.

I’m not an owner of this plugin (yet), so was just responding to a previous comment regarding faithfully recreated skeuomorphic interfaces in general. The screenshot posted in the reply shows this one does have (IMO) pretty clean and straightforward new GUI, though. :tu:

And that's the thing. You can't please everyone.. Some people love Valhalla GUI's.. I don't..
I am curious what software does soulata consider having 2025 standards?
What I do wish for the PS-3300 is a way (sort of like Gforce does it with their OB-E, and in a sense Omnisphere does) where you can enlarge/zoom in a specific section of the synth to work on that section of the instrument and then zoom it back out.
