Anyone know if Ableton's Black Friday sale has historically also applied to Max for Live? I'm not very interested in Suite and don't want to have to waste money on the much higher update cost relative to Standard---whereas if I just get Max for Live standalone my cost to update to a new version of Live Standard won't go up. Saving a little money in the short term but a lot more in the long-term.
Not sure I even want Max for Live though---I'd mainly want to edit Ableton's MPE Control or program my own devices for playing MPE instruments and other hardware controllers, but that would probably require learning to program in Max (to some extent at least---assuming AI doesn't get good enough to do it for me soon), which is apparently a chore. I'm also slightly interested in the Max for Live device that sort of acts like chord tracks, but it seems like a weak substitute for actual chord tracks... and I do have Cubase if I really feel the need for chord tracks.

Okay, I lied. The Arturia instrument collection upgrades sale dropped. I totally forgot about that and my plans to upgrade during any end of year sale had fallen off my mental stack. The Effect Collection upgrade is not sufficiently interesting to me but they added a few cool new instruments to the latest version of the instrument collection.martinjuenke wrote: Thu Nov 06, 2025 5:22 pmHeretic!Gribs wrote: Thu Nov 06, 2025 3:30 pm I looked at all the extra plugins that I really don’t need or want in particular and decided to continue my suspending of spending and save even more.
Mrs Gribs and I are very fortunate that I have a good optical/display engineering job and we have been frugal and saved for decades. On the flip side, I blame stress and an insane workload in 2025 for mental degradation and stuff falling of my stack.

What is the price of the upgrade if there is one that is.dermage wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 3:09 pm Anyone else not able to upgrade from signature v1 to v3 on the UAD website?
I guess they don't want my money then (and I probably don't need the plug-ins)

All their other stuff is on sale too, and they have some interesting plugs, as well as the Benson Amp.
But the Milkman is magic. Best Fender sim I've heard. Kicks Neural Imperial's a**. IMHO.
Purchased it yesterday for a project & still under the fresh impression that it is just excellent.
Current price for us VAT plagued Europeans with discount & extra newletter off
sits around acceptable 100€ for the lot you get.

Glad you're liking it. I have wayyy too much gear and wayyy too many ampsims. I've only been playing through Milkman for a couple of days now, but it's obvious that it's absolutely top tier.
Lots of people like Neural Imperial for this sound, and I tweaked that to the best of my limited ability, but I never could get the luscious tone that I do with Milkman immediately. I've played through it with a Strat, a Tele, a P-90-equipped Gretsch, and an old Gibson Studio LP. With a few eq tweaks to account for the different pickups, they all sound delightfully alive.
Ooh! -- It's worth noting that the reverb and tremolo on the amp and the reverb and tremolo on the HTR afterwards are entirely different units. And they interact for some interesting textures. And messing with mic placement can make a huge difference in tonalities, unlike with some sims. Milkman is really simple, but is fun to explore!
