REAPER is a powerful DAW, but it can be a bit challenging to use straight out of the box.
To streamline and speed up my workflow, I’ve added custom hotkeys inspired by major DAWs and personalized the top toolbar with icons for the most frequently used actions.

Toolbar Icons
All Toolbar Functions:
- Create Tracks and Assign Inputs Sequentially - Instantly create multiple tracks and assign them to consecutive inputs (ideal for multichannel recording).
- Keyboard Lock - Disables keyboard input while recording to prevent accidental keypresses.
- Auto-Scroll - Keeps playhead centered during playback and recording.
- Show / Hide Automations (A) - Toggle automation lane visibility for all tracks.
- Toggle Read (Alt/Opt + R) - Enable automation read mode on all tracks.
- Toggle Touch (Alt/Opt + W) - Record automation moves during playback.
- Normalize Items - Adjust clip gain to a consistent level (LUFS, RMS, or peak).
- Dynamic Split - Automatically split items based on silence or transients.
- Phase Align - Correct phase differences between multitrack recordings.
- Freeze Mono / Stereo / Unfreeze - Render tracks to audio to save CPU, with one-click freeze/unfreeze.
- Spectrogram & Spectral Peaks - Switch waveform display modes for frequency-based visualization.
- Rectify Peaks - Show peaks from zero line - useful when tracks are minimized.
- Scale Peaks 6dB - Compress waveform height for better high-dynamic range control.
- Peaks Settings - Adjust LUFS graphs, gate threshold, and color intensity.
- Monitoring (not rendered) Chain - Use room correction like Sonarworks without affecting renders.
- Show / Hide Floating Windows - Quickly declutter your workspace.
- Renumber Markers - Automatically renumber all markers from start to end.
- Cleanup Project Directory - Find and remove unused files safely.
- Save New Version of File - Auto-increment project file name for versioning.
