Hey!
for a recent project I have to deal with stem export and I cannot wrap my head around how this exactly in Bitwig works.
What I have and what I want to do:
String Section in a group, Keys in a group and Woodwinds in a group. The whole orchestra should get an fx chain (reverb), so I grouped the whole orchestra and applied the fx chain on that big group. Now I would like to record the stems inside the project WITH the fx on them.
When I create a new audio track for let's say the keys, input of that audio track would be the keys group, but when I record now the audio, it of course receives only the dry audio, before it hits the fx chain on the orchestra group.
I tried setting up two audio receivers on that audio track, one with the dry signal and one with the fx chain as input. Problem there is, that when I will record all of the stems, the fx chain gets double and triple recorded and will be way too loud - so the mix wont sound the same.

First I set up these reverbs as a fx channel (send), but same problem, I cannot get my head around: How can I record everything in stems inside the project, so that I get the exakt mix playing?

maybe this is a noob/beginner question, or maybe this is a very specific case?

I would be very happy about every tipp I can get :)
Cheers
Robin

hey, thanks for your help! :)

sure, yes that would work, but is there any option to record single stems with baked in fx?
maybe it is a bit tedious, but for now my workaround would be to insert the reverb plugin on every single instrument channel, that way I can get stems, without having one seperate fx channel stem, you know?

You can do the following:
1. Solo the group (e.g. "Woodwinds")
2. Select "Export Audio"
3. Select the container group track, select the range and execute export

In Bitwig 6:
1. Solo the group (e.g. "Woodwinds")
2. Right click on the group clip and choose "Bounce..." and select pre-fader or post-fader.
This creates a new track with the group track bounce.

To record send effects:
1. Solo the track (or group) which you want to bounce (no need to solo the effect channels!)
2. Create a clip or a range (with the range tool) on the master track
3. Right click the clip or range (make sure the arranger is active!) and choose "Bounce..."
This creates a new track with the master track bounce. If you use external hardware effects make sure that "Realtime" is enabled

Note that it might sound different when you mix these channels since you get a different result if you send only 1 track or several tracks into a fx chain.
