The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 9:34 am It's very heartwarming to read that others think I should just join in. But it feels a bit awkward because I've been working with Kontrast for quite a long time.
I see no reason to think that familiarity with a synth, or even participation in it's development should disqualify anyone from taking part! After all, anyone can take advantage of the wonderful presets you have created for the factory soundbank.

Also there is plenty of precedent for this, Kraftraum with Full Bucket synths comes to mind, also myself with the Odin 2 soundset, when I was involved in the Beta testing. I am sure there are plenty of other examples also.

In short - no reason to feel awkward at all!

Thanks Richard! Good and kind argumentation. The awkwardness fades away quickly. I didn't realise there were precedents. And how nice that my well-intentioned resolution was met with such friendly protests. I am in! :hug:

Hello all, here's my track for this month. Hope you like yet another voyage into the unknown from me! Big shoutout to TSOM for the female voice patch, which I modified a little for my track. I also made my own tenor voice to underpin the vox and add depth to the sound.

I also made a nice viola sound using the bonfire image - really!

Please enjoy and I hope you like the evolving soundscape.

I just installed the synth to experiment with it. First, why can't I choose where to install the huge pack of presets? I hate it when authors are so inconsiderate.

The synth method is interesting, and some of the presets, as well as a few of my experiments, sounded really lively and organic. However, the CPU demands are deadly for me. I could understand it with Myth, given its complex resynthesis. But this wavetable, even if more sophisticated, is, in my opinion, just sample playback at its core and shouldn't require such intense calculations.

I mapped the mod wheel to filter cutoff. However, the reaction to wheel movement is quantized and not smooth at all — unusable. Has anyone else experienced this? I noticed that Milkster reported something similar with the pitch bend. I guess it's the same symptom?

Anyway, enough ranting :-) I will probably skip this round. These technical issues suck the creative joy out of me...

@J.Ruegg
@Taron
Thank you so much for sharing your presets (at Discord). They were a good base to start from! :)

Thanks to all followers and last month's track liker. :)

-------------------------------------

When the call of the ancestors echoes through the night, the shaman knows that new trials are beginning to stir.
Within the circle of forebears he finds that quiet, ancient force that prepares him for whatever is to come.
From ember, breath, and remembered wisdom the Iron Runes (Járnrúnar) arise — symbols of transformation, forged for those willing to grow from within and step strengthened into a new dawn.

nJoY.

Mid-1990s, somewhere in rural West Germany. A teenager wanders aimlessly through the foggy streets of the small village. The lanterns glow dim and orange through the mist. A dreary, cold November day in the loneliest place in the world. The boy inhales. Cold air fills his lungs and wraps around his soul. The boy exhales. Warm breath evaporates in a cloud before his eyes. He has to get out of here.
