People have posted about bugs and crashes there for a long time. It's useful for random passers-by on KVR to see a cascade of "it's buggy" reports from a lot of different people just to get a grasp of how actually buggy Scaler is.

This is certainly useful for folks like me who don't visit the developer/plugin pages.tumface wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 10:01 am People have posted about bugs and crashes there for a long time. I've noticed complaints about long VST scan times. I can't tell if there is a way to set a default to not use or scan for VSTs. Anyone know? My use would only be in Reaper, and so would not need it to use internal VSTs.

Yeah you can tell it skip the scan and it won't do it again unless you tell it to.mixer9 wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 5:52 pm I've noticed complaints about long VST scan times. Anybody find a decent alternative to scaler in 2025? I appreciate them updating it consistently and taking feedback but I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree on UX and functionality. Looking for something simpler and faster rather than a DAW replacement. I especially liked Scaler's feature to map a chord progression to sequential white keys.

Mario Nieto's Chord Generator does that very well:Zoopy wrote: Fri Nov 14, 2025 7:39 pm Anybody find a decent alternative to scaler in 2025? .... Chordz https://www.codefn42.com/chordz/
If all you want is to play chords with a single midi note press, this apparently does that. It's free but it's VST 2 (64 bit). McAfee blocked the download from that site but it's available at plugins4free which I downloaded and scanned and came up as safe.
EDit: Just had a quick playthrough with chordz. It's pretty cool. Has a lot of options. You can add your own chords and scales.
instachord 2 might not fit the bill but it's $15 iirc so may be worth a look. It's a generative type of program for patterns and progressions, I think.

I'd also like to add that Scaler 3 is CRAZY buggy, like maybe multiple critical project-ending workflow destroying bugs almost everytime I try it. It really bums me out as Scaler 2 was one of my fave plugins, not sure what happened here but...

For all of you who are considering Scaler Plugin 2 or 3, , do not. There is no support because if you point out a bug on their "support" site they flag your comment and censor you.
Essentially, I think this company has pulled a bait & switch operation which is against FTC law. https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/penalty ... ait-switch (https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/penalty-offenses/bait-switch)
Features they claim in advertising don't work. There is no support. Bugs for days. Run away. I see this company being sued by consumers and winning.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you as a long time Scaler user. There was a lot of progress with the latest release and they are actively addressing some of the UI issues that really twisted us around after using Scaler 2 for so long. My experience is they have been pretty responsive when I asked questions and the software is absolutely being actively developed.bsac wrote: Tue Nov 18, 2025 2:32 am For all of you who are considering Scaler Plugin 2 or 3, , do not.
